ORCHESTRA CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
Welcome to Sister Act…..
“…the feel-good musical comedy smash that critics and audiences alike have fallen in love
with!” And we hope you’ll do exactly that during this evening’s performance.
Throughout the years (and there are many!) that I’ve been associated with BMTC, I believe
that “Sister Act” is our first show to be virtually sold out two weeks prior to opening night!
This is testament to not only the show's popularity, but also to members, our Performance
Secretary, our on-line booking expert and social media broadcasters who’ve all chipped in
to publicise the event.
Led by the Production Team of Director Steven Foster, Choreographer Catherine Moore and
Musical Director David Blackwell, the principals and Company have all enjoyed an intense
period of rehearsals which have often been extremely energetic and full of fun.
Stage Director Derval Lester and her Team have again designed and built a superb set,
stylishly enhanced by our lighting crew to make you feel as if you’re sitting in the cloisters
with our glorious array of nuns!
Following this week’s performances, our next production is on Saturday 28th April -
“A Night in With The Kids” - a concert showcasing the younger members of BMTC, many of
whom performed in “Whistle down the Wind”.
Our summer concert comes next. “A Wander Round the West End’ June 28th – 30th which,
as the title suggests, includes a variety of musical excerpts from shows which are currently
on stage in the West End. Both these concerts are at the Brewhouse and tickets are
available from the Box Office on 01283 508100.
When the concert season is over we welcome back Oly Wright to direct our October 2018
Show - ‘Sweeney Todd’ and Lee Smith who will be directing ‘Legally Blonde’ in February 2019
- very different but continuing to demonstrate our commitment to bring a diverse range of
shows to our audience.
Remember to book early – we would love many more ‘sold out’ performances!
Thanks for your support

ORCHESTRA SYNOPSISSISTER ACT is the feel-amazing musical comedy based on the smash hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith.
Featuring original music by Tony® and 8-time Oscar® winner ALAN MENKEN (Disney’s Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Enchanted), dazzling dance routines and songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco, SISTER ACT is the funniest and funkiest musical around.
SISTER ACT tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a Convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, sisterhood and music.
