Finding the Key Verse
Purpose of tocfay's study: To learn how to find the biblical principle within a passage
Date:
--------------------------
Passage: ______________________ _ (John 6:1-15)
It's easy to get lost in a Bible passage. It can all seem so confusing and hard to get a
handle on it. Sometimes it helps to simply look for the heart or central truth of the text.
Many times that truth can be found in one or more two verses. When you focus on these
verses, they can help make sense of the larger passage. These verses become an
explanation or an elaboration for the entire passage. Today, see if you can find the crucial
verses and focus on them.
After reading this passage ... 1. Write out one or two key verses in this passage, word perfect. As you write the
words down think about their meanings. ____________ _
2. What phrase or words stick out in your mind? ___________ _
3. Write down a new insight from God about life from this passage. _____ _

DAY9
Memorizing the WORD Purpose of Today's Study: To take the truth of a verse to hear by committing it to memory.
Date: -------------------------------
Passage: _____________________________ _ (John 6:16-21)
It's a smart idea not to leave your personal devotions behind you as you go about your daily activities. Traffic, disappointments, setbacks, tests and people all look different when we see them through scripture. Memorizing Scripture, hiding it in your heart and carrying it with you help to keep the truth foremost in your thinking. That can make all the difference in the world.
Read this passage three times and choose one verse to memorize. Write the verse out below and on a
3x 5 card. Carry the card with you this week and use it to help you memorize the verse. (If your passage
doesn't have a verse you want to memorize, memorize James 1 :2)
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you will be able to test and approve what God's will is. His good pleasing and perfect will."

Jesusantf Me Purpose of Today's Study: To creatively use your imagination to apply the Bible in your life
Date: ---------------------------
Passage: _________________________ _(John 6:22-40)
It would have been wonderful to follow Jesus personally when He lived on earth. Sitting around a fire, walking from one city to another or visiting somebody' 5 home and hearing Him talk about truth would have been life- changing to all who had the opportunity. But the truth of the matter is, we are all called to follow in His steps. He is alive and we are to obey
the Scriptures as His twelve disciples did so many years ago.
If you could see and hear Jesus sitting with you and talking, write out what this passage would sound like if He were talking directly to you: ___________ _
How is He asking you to live in the next 24 hours? ____________ _
"Whenever a person reads the Word of God, the Holy Spirit Is speaking to them."

DAY11
From the INSIDE out Purpose ofT oday' s Study: To show that relationships are the key to any real change in the life of the believer
Date: -----------------------------
Passage: __________________ _ (John 7:37-52)
Reading the Bible is not about getting smarter so you can win the Bible column in "Jeopardy" or win apie-shaped insert in "Trivial Pursuit". It's about learning the truth so you can live the way that Godwants you to. There's no virtue in simply knowing the Bible; it's all about living the Bible. It's aboutbecoming Christ-like in our character and living from the inside out. Learning doesn't happen without change and change is never easy. Change if this sort doesn't happen without God's help. He'll begin by dealing with us first before He uses us to affect change in others.
After reading this passage, answer the questions. (You don't have to answer every question, only thosethat apply to your passage.)
What is it asking me to change in my relationship with God? ____________ _
What is it asking me to change in my relationship to myself? ____________ _
What is it asking me to change in my relationships at home? ____________ _
What is it asking me to change in my relationships at school/work? __________ _

Passage: _________________________ _(John 8:1-30)
If you have been around people who have been Christians for a long time, you may have noticed
that some of them seem to grow old while growing up into what Jesus wants them to become.
But what seems to be true of others can oftentimes be true to us. Some of us become like Jesus
except for one part that we don't want to change. It may be an issue like selfishness, greed or
dishonesty. It may be something that calls for great sacrifice or hardship. Whatever the case,
we just don't want to turn over to God our whole selves and all that we are.
Today, make sure when you read this passage, you don't just focus on the easy truths to obey, but look at the hard truths.
1. What's the hardest truth for you to obey today's passage? Why? _________ _
2. What's a beginning step toward obeying truth? _______________ _
3. How would you be different today if you obeyed this truth? ___________ _

It' 5 About God & You
Purpose of Today's Study: To learn how to discover and live out God's will for you today.
Date: -----------------------------
Passage: _________________________ _(John 9:1-25)
Wouldn't it be nice to know God's will for your life? It would be wonderfully convenient if He would simply
write (or dictate) a letter and include His will for us. Letters filled answers like who we are to marry?
What college He'd have us attend? What career choices we might succeed in? Why am I going through a
difficult situation? Many of life's c:iuestions don't get answered specifically in Scripture, but biblical
principles are given that can guide us, the Bible is God's will for us.
Write out today's passage putting your name in wherever it makes sense. Put your name in as many
times as possible. (Example: "For God so loved Bill that He gave His only begotten Son, that if Bill
believes ... )
