Day 5- Places of forgiveness in the Qur'an مواطن اإلستغفار ف القرآن

We will look at the ayat where Allah (هلالج لج) commands the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) to make istigfar (seek forgiveness). Surah Ghafir is about the importance of the dawah (اھــمیة الــدعــوة). In this surah, Allah (هلالج لج) tells us the story of Musa (عـــلیھ الســـالم) and also about the believer from the people of Firawn- this is to show us the importance of dawah and that anybody can make dawah. 

"

"And, indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Taurat (Torah)], A guide and a reminder for men of understanding.

Allah (هلالج لج) narrates the story of Musa (عــــلـیـھ الـســــالم) to the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) and then tells him about the privilege that He gave Musa (عـلیھ السـالم). Allah (هلالج لج) gave him ayat and knowledge which are both guidance from Allah (هلالج لج). So guidance (الھــــدى) is Ayat (اآلیــــات) + Knowledge Banu Israel were given the Book which is the Tawrah. Allah mentioned Book here .(الــــعـلـم)and not guidance because not everyone who is given the Book is also given guidance. Allah (هلالج لج) tells us in other places in the Qur’an that the Book is guidance for those who have taqwa (المتقین). In this passage, Allah (هلالج لج) mentions that the Book is guidance and a reminder for the men of understanding. (الولى االلباب). There is guidance in the Tawrah through its legislations and rules. Who will benefit from the Book? The men of understanding. (اولــــي االلــــبـاب). Allah (هلالج لج) told the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) these stories as a console for him- don’t leave the dawah.

Then Allah (هلالج لج) tells him three commands:

"So be patient (O Muhammad SAW). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault, and glorify the praises of your Lord in the Ashi and in the Ibkar 

1 Be patient (فاصبر)After the story and console to the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), Allah (هلالج لج) tells him to be patient- you have a mission, continue the dawah. Be patient like the messengers of determination. To be patient is to hold yourself from complaining or feeling uneasy. You are in dawah- don’t show frustration, impatience or irritation. Victory comes with patience. Seek help in patience and prayer. You will not have success and victory without patience. With patience you will get what you love. With hastiness you own’t get what you want- this is a rule of life. Anything you want- cure, guidance, anyone you love- you need patience to get it. 

To make it easy for you to patient, Allah (هلالج لج) gives motivates you by reminding you- the Promise of Allah (هلالج لج) is the truth. Nothing can be more beautiful that the commands of Allah (هلالج لج), especially to the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص). When you feel like you are losing patience, then you remind yourself- ’the Promise of Allah is the truth’ and this will help you to be patient. 

عن صھیب، قال قال رسول هللا صلى هللا علیھ وسلم " عجبا ألمر المؤمن إن أمره كلھ خیر ولیس ذاك ألحد إال للمؤمن إن أصابتھ. " سراء شكر فكان خیرا لھ وإن أصابتھ ضراء صبر فكان خیرا لھ

Suhaib reported that Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (God), thus there is a good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is a good for him in it.[Sahih Muslim 2999]

For example, to be patient for cure, for victory or for guidance, remind yourself that the Promise of Allah (هلالج لج) is the truth. The Name Allah (هلالج لج) includes all the Names of Allah .(هلالج لج)

2 Seek forgiveness for your sin (واستغفر لذنبك) This is the place of istigfar in this passage. Be patient and ask for forgiveness. if you are patient, but you are sinning then victory can be delayed because of your sin. So seek forgiveness to avert the things you don’t want. Seeking forgiveness removes the obstacles in your life. Sins deprive you from victory and happiness because they are a barrier to

many goodness in life. Allah’s Promise will happen but any obstacles on the way are because of our sins 

3 Glorify the praises of your Rabb (وسبح بحمد ربك)This cools us. What a beautiful combination! Do tasbeeh and tahmeed in the best times which are at the beginning and at the end of the day. This will help you. Anyone who says hundred times in a day, then all is sins will be forgiven even if it is as much as سـبحان هللا وبحـمدهthe foam of the sea. With tasbeeh, you negate all imperfections from Allah (هلالج لج) and with tamed you attribute all perfections to Allah (هلالج لج). This is the believer.
