• PREAMBLE:• This Bulletin is intended to inform the

community regarding development of key aspects of this complex project. It is intended to provide a platform of information about the following:

• THE NEW SCHOOL BUILDING – Evolution of the design and updates regarding major milestones

• THE TRANSITION – Information and updates relating to the adjustments the school community will make during the construction period• CLOSING THE SCHOOL – PREPARING TO

MOVE• RELOCATING TO A HOLDING FACILITY –

VAUGHAN ROAD ACADEMY• DEMOLITION• CONSTRUCTION

• These are the major headings that reflect the areas of concern raised by the Community. This is not a closed list and the Bulletin is intended to be a flexible document.

• Items will be added as the project evolves.

THE NEW SCHOOL BUILDINGThe project timeline has been adjusted to reflect the relocation of the school to Vaughan Road as an interim measure – allowing the site to be dedicated to construction and landscape development.

TRANSITION:

Updates from the Transition Team - discussion points & milestones from the working group will be posted here as the strategies for relocation, along with details, become resolved.

CLOSING THE SCHOOL & PREPARING TO MOVE:

The existing school will close at the end of June, 2018.

RELOCATING TO THE FORMER VAUGHAN ROAD ACADEMY:

Status of the renovation & upgrades to the temporary facility –

The necessary Full Day Kindergarten facilities have been laid out and will be constructed early in the new year. Additional discussions are also taking place to ensure a smooth transition for Before & After Care functions.

The site development and creation of Kindergarten play areas will begin in the Spring.

TRANSITION:

There will be discussion around how the character of DAVISVILLE can be brought to the temporary school, and how the students, staff and parent community can reinforce their identity during the transition period.

There will also be interim events in the new year to allow the school community to become familiar with VAUGHAN.

Status of the bus plan – drop‐off & pick‐up locations and schedules:

School staff have reviewed current operations at other schools and will incorporate lessons learned into a bus transfer strategy that is appropriate for the DAVISVILLE community.

TDSB Transportation update – plans continue to be revised / more detailed scenarios based on input from school & community.

DEMOLITION:

Saying goodbye –leaving the old school:

As the current building closes, TDSB and the school community will reflect on what should be preserved and archived to retain a long term record of the school. This is an extension of something that has been done previously –an acknowledgement that this project is the latest in a series of replacement schools over time on this site.

There will be discussion around the environmental concerns associated with demolition. This area will allow us to present the protocols the TDSB follows. These will be links to web‐sites along with an overall summary

CONSTRUCTION:

This section is currently empty, but will become increasingly crowded. This will allow progress of work to be documented in the coming year.
