Work History: Babcock International – 6GR Coded Welder (September 2014-Present)

Currently working onboard HMS Prince of Wales undertaking a wide range of welding tasks from welding link up butts and seams to 100% X-ray and UT standard. To pipe supports and water tight doors with all jobs being inspected on completion to QC standard.

Worked on the BP Quad 204 Project Welding Structural Pipe work as well as plate work using Varied Welding Procedures and a combination of metal cored wire for rooting and a flux cored wire for filling and capping and all fillet work in all positions to 100% UT and MPI Standard.

I have also worked on Total’s Ellon Grant Project and Sellafield’s Nuclear Project welding to similar Specification and tolerances as the BP Quad Project using the same wires and similar welding procedures.

OGN Group - Welder (March 2014-September 2014)

This role consists of working between two projects currently ongoing within the yard, The first being the Talisman Jacket and the second of which is The Enquest Producer which is an FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading Vessel).

Welding struts and pipe supports on the Talisman Jacket using a combination of SMAW and FCAW Processes.

Working onboard The Enquest Producer whilst docked at quayside. Working in confined space tanks Welding Stiffening bars using SMAW and FCAW processes.

Welding insert plates using ceramic tile backing straps and a combination of both SMAW and FCAW processes.

Bae Systems - Welder (August 2004-September 2014)

This role consists of working on various types of ships including Type 45 Destroyers, Type 23 friggates and most recently The Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier. Duties include:

Structural welding of the ships areas including Double bottoms, Armoured Magazine store and the steering room. I also worked on the bridge section of the type45’s where i was mostly working with aluminium.

At times outfit welding on areas of the ships such as the lift shaft, Ventilation systems and pipes onboard the ship.

Coaching and mentoring of new apprentices supervising their work, giving advice and general knowledge in procedures and techniques.
