DaTrackSwitcher :-

Welcome to the Next Generation of Track Switching!

Files In the archive, along with this guide you will find the following files:

• DaTrackSv1.exe • lbapi.ocx • comdlg32.ocx • scrrun.dll • msvbvm60.dll • SB_GP500.exe • Anim Folder • Default_Best_Laps.txt

Installation First of all, I suggest a clean version of GP500, if you have the time to remove your bikesets and save in a temporary directory, especially if you are new to switchers then this will be a whole lot easier.

1. Move the DaTracksSv1.exe into to your GP500 root directory. (c:\program files\micoprose\gp500\)

2. Move the *.ocx files into your windows system directory. (c:\windows\system32) – Windows XP (c:\winnt\system) – win2000 (c:\windows\system) – win9x or Me

3. Move the scrrun.dll file into your windows system directory. (win 98 users should also move the msvbvm60.dll into the windows system directory)

(c:\windows\system32) – Windows XP (c:\winnt\system) – win2000 (c:\windows\system) – win9x or Me

4. Move the SB_GP500.exe into to your GP500 root directory. Backup old GP500.exe and rename SB_GP500.exe > GP500.exe

Preparation – Data Folders For users familiar with previous versions of dsv then ignore this section and continue on to “Preparation – Track Folder” on the following page. If you are new to data switching software then follow the instructions below. This is where the clean version is usefull. The following steps will explain how to set up the data folders. I suggest you do one bikeset at a time to get used to the system. Certain bikesets come pre-dsv compatible. For these bikesets, just install them into your GP500 root directory. For other, non dsv compatible, follow the steps below.

1. Install your bikeset as normal, extracting it into the GP500 root directory. 2. Rename the new “Data” folder in the style “Data_*BikesetName*” 3. In this folder, create a new “GPPFiles” folder. 4. Move the “GPParticipants.txt” into this folder and rename in the style

“GPP_*BikesetName*” 5. Each data folder also has it’s own save folder, this is created for you by DTS

but you should be aware of it so you know where to install setups etc. 6. You will need to repeat this for each bikeset you have / install.

Preparation – Sound Folder If you have dsv experience, also ignore this section.

1. Create a new “Sounds” folder in your GP500 root directory. (..\gp500\sounds\)

2. In this new sounds folder, create a new “slvfiles” folder. (..\gp500\sounds\slvfiles\)

3. Place any sound slv’s in this folder and name accordingly. 4. You will need to repeat this for any sound file you have / install.

TS. If you have no in game bike sound, you will need to copy the original sound

folder from gp500. Mainly the sndtest.exe but to be save, copy it all.

Preparation – Tracks Folder This is also where the clean version is usefull. The following steps will explain how to set up the new tracks folder. I suggest you do one track at a time to get used to the system.

1. Create a “Tracks” folder in your GP500 root directory. 2. Place the “Anim” folder in this new directory.

(..\gp500\tracks\) 3. Create a “TRKfiles” folder in the tracks directory. 4. Copy a track folder into the tracks directory. 5. Rename this folder accordingly with the tracks real name.

e.g. (..\gp500\tracks\laguna seca\) 6. Copy this tracks track map into this directory and rename “trackmap.bmp” 7. If onboard lap videos and information sound files are available, copy these

into this folder as well. 8. Copy the “default_best_laps.txt” into the folder and rename “best_laps.txt”

If you already have a record for this track, copy that instead from (…\gp500\save\records\*trackfolder*\)

9. Open “best_laps.txt” in a text editor. Change the second line so it contains the tracks name.

Track Dir Name Laguna Seca Save and close the file.

10. Open “trackdata.txt” in a text editor. Check that its 2nd line also includes the tracks name. Paste the following line into the file before the shadebox section:

specialObjectPos -600.00 -600.00 -600.0 If problems occur with a ferris wheel appearing on the circuit, change this value to a larger extreme to move it further away from the track.

11. You will need to repeat this for each track you have \ install.

This has now selected your bikeset, your entrant list and your sounds. Now for the Tracks. As of this point you will not have a tracklist so we need to create one.

2. Select 14 circuits from the Track dropdown selection.

3. Once you have selected 14 tracks, you will be prompted to give this

track list a name.
