Respect. Excellence. Acceptance. Community. Honesty. Dear Parents and Families: Well with this cooler weather the gardens are starting to come back to life so if anyone feels like doing some gardening here at ANPS please call in and see us. I had a wonderful weekend up the bush. With the fires under control I can now relax and enjoy. They were a bit close the previous week so lets hope they stay out. Our new families are settling in and its lovely to see our students welcome the new students into our community, well done kids!!!!!! PARENTS AND FRIENDS: Our Parents and Friends Groups is an amazing group of people who come along when they can to support our school in fundraising, helping in the garden, coffee mornings, sausage sizzles, car boot sales, sewing, library assistance, book fair and many more. You dont have to be involved in everything but you might like to help out when you can. Please ask at the front office if you are interested so we can put you in contact with our friendly P&F. Remember many hands make light work – ALL WELCOME. Dont forget this can include Grandparents, relatives, even the next door neighbour! A current Working With Childrens Check is essential but these are free for volunteers. The office will happily assist in letting you know how to go about getting one. This year we would love to purchase some new playground equipment to replace some of our old existing playground items so if you could help us in fundraising this would certainly get the ball rolling. SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTIONS: Nominations closed yesterday for the 4 parent and 2 staff vacancies. I would like to thank Ms. Nania and Mr. James for taking up the 2 staff positions. I would also like to thank Toula, (Kostas mum), for renominating in a parent role. A big welcome and thank you to John, (Jazmins dad), and Zumreta, (Ismars mum), for nominating for parent positions also. This leaves us with one parent category vacancy. If you would like to know more about School Council please speak with me. PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF: It has been brought to my attention that we have a parent parking on the crossing in 7th Avenue during drop-off and pick-up times. Please refrain from parking on crossings, double parking or picking up children from the middle of the road. These are dangerous practices that will not be tolerated. Police and Council have been notified and will be doing random drive pasts. These practices endanger our children's lives and as parents we need to be aware of our actions. LIFE EDUCATION: Next week we will have the Life Education van here at ANPS. This is a non-negotiable part of student learning and of vital importance to educating children about a range of healthy choice issues. It is expected that ALL students will attend this program. If you would like to know more about the Life Ed Van and Healthy Harold sign up for the parent info session. Its a fantastic opportunity and everyone loves Healthy Harold. SUNSMART: Every student MUST wear a hat when in the yard or they WILL be sitting under cover and unable to go into the playground. A friendly reminder to all in our community that we live in an environment that has great potential to do damage to our skin. Our school Sunsmart Policy requires children to wear polo shirts, collared clothing and sunsmart hats during school hours. We encourage the use of sunscreen but DO NOT allow students to share this at school as it may cause rashes to other students. We also encourage students to be sunsmart out of school hours and are pleased to see our students wearing their school hats before and after school. CAMPS, SPORTS, EXCURSION FUND (CSEF): The current round of CSEF is now open. If you have a Health Care or Pension Card which is valid as of 29th January 2019 you may be eligible for this. Please bring in your Health Care or Pension Card to the office so we can process this for you. If you have any questions about this please contact the office. Have a fantastic weekend. Meet Our OSHC Team

The Educators managing the Outside School Hours Care at Altona North Primary School are passionate

and make sure they always provide a wide range of activities that engage all children each and every day

at before and after school care.

They thoroughly enjoy what they do and take their roles very seriously. Leigh is one such member of our

team. Leigh is the Program Coordinator and has been working with Altona North for 4 years since 2016.

Leigh is an experienced and qualified Educator with expertise in working with children in OSHC.

As part of Leigh’s role as an Educator with Camp Australia, he has completed compulsory

training in Active Supervision (VSHAPE), Child Protection and Camp Australia policies and

procedures to ensure the service is safe and engaging for all children in their care.

Between the hours of 6:45 - 8:45am and 3:15 - 6:15pm, Leigh can be seen chatting with the children who

attend OSHC. His favourite activity is Chatting to the children and building Lego and Hama bead

creations with the children.

If you haven’t met Leigh, please feel free to pop in and visit our before or after school care program.

Register and Book Now

To register and book your child in our program, visit www.campaustralia.com.au and use the school finder

on our homepage to search for Altona North. To secure your child’s spot, we always recommend making

your bookings in advance.

We look forward to seeing you and your family soon!
