PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE: Heavenly Father we come to you now in prayer united as one. Fulfil now we pray these prayers and longings of your people in this Parish, as may be best for us and for your kingdom. Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer. Father our country is in desperate need of your life providing rains. We pray that you will soon provide this need to us all, especially those primary producers in our many rural areas. Father we also pray for the many communities throughout our country under threat from ferocious bush fires. We pray for the many who are fighting the fires, and also for those providing logistical support for the battles. Keep all those involved safe in your care we pray. Lord in your mercy – Hear our Prayer. Father we pray for the Church and for all Christians everywhere. May your spirit give strength to all your people as they work and witness in your world. Unite us in your truth and love, and help us to show your love to others. We pray a blessing on our Archbishop Phillip Aspinall, and on our regional bishop John Roundhill. Father give us wisdom and understanding as you speak to us individually through our parish priests Reverend Jane and Father Morris. Richly bless them and their families we pray. Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer. Father comfort and heal those family members and friends who suffer in body, mind, or spirit. Give them courage and hope in their troubles. Through us make your presence real to all those in need. We particularly pray for those needing our prayers at this time. We pray for … Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer. Dear Lord Jesus through your sacrifice for our sins, you conquered death and opened the gates of heaven to all believers. At this time we remember those who have died in the faith and gone on to glory, especially those we have known and loved. We also pray for those who mourn, that they may feel your love and care for them. Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer. Most of all Father let your love guide our lives, for then the whole Church will stay together in perfect harmony. Let the peace of heart which comes from Jesus Christ be always present in our hearts and lives to your glory. Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer. Father accept our prayers through your dear son our saviour Jesus Christ who taught us to pray - Our Father in heaven … (page 124)

PRAYER AND READINGS

and flowed out from his presence. A thousand thousand served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood attending him. The court sat in judgement, and the books were opened. As I watched in the night visions, I saw one like a human being coming with the clouds of heaven. And he came to the Ancient One and was presented before him. To him was given dominion and glory and kingship, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not pass away, and his kingship is one that shall never be destroyed. Hear the word of the Lord Thanks be to God A READING FROM THE BOOK OF PSALMS:

PSALM 138

1. I will give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart: even before the gods will I sing your praises. 2. I will bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name: because of your faithfulness and your loving-kindness, for you have made your name and your word supreme over all things. 3. At a time when I called to you, you gave me answer: and put new strength within my soul. 4. All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O Lord: for they have heard the words of your mouth; 5. And they shall sing of the ways of the Lord: that the glory of the Lord is great. 6. For though the Lord is exalted, he looks upon the lowly: and he comprehends the proud from afar.

THEME: ST MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS SENTENCE: Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.

James 5.16 OUR PARISH PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help us to grow in love, faith and obedience as we discover meaning and direction for

today and hope for tomorrow through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. PRAYER OF THE WEEK: O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: mercifully grant us such a measure of your grace that, running in the way of your commandments, we may obtain your gracious promises, and be made partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. A READING FROM DANIEL, CHAPTER 7, VERSES 9-10 AND 13-14: As I watched, thrones were set in place, and an Ancient One took his throne; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and its wheels were burning fire. A stream of fire issued

SEPTEMBER 29, 2019 - SIXTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

7. Though I walk in the midst of danger, yet will you preserve my life: you will stretch out your hand against the fury of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me. 8. The Lord will complete his purpose for me: your loving-kindness, O Lord, endures for ever; do not forsake the work of your own hands. A READING FROM THE REVELATION TO JOHN, CHAPTER 12, VERSES 7-12A: And war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back, but they were defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, proclaiming, ‘Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah, for the accuser of our comrades has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. But they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to life even in the face of death. Rejoice then, you heavens and those who dwell in them! Hear the word of the Lord Thanks be to God

THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO JOHN, CHAPTER 1, VERSES 45-51: Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.’ Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’ Philip said to him, ‘Come and see.’ When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said of him, ‘Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!’ Nathanael asked him, ‘Where did you come to know me?’ Jesus answered, ‘I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.’ Nathanael replied, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!’ Jesus answered, ‘Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.’ And he said to him, ‘Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.’ This is the Gospel of the Lord Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ
