Nathalie MiebachTranslates weather data into complex

sculptures and musical scores.

She started using data visualisation as

a form of art when she attended

astronomy classes at Harvard

University and studied basket

weaving.

For her final paper she turned in a sculptural translation of the

Hertzsprung-Russell diagram.

- Translated the relationship between star luminosity and

temperature into a thick, funnel-shapped scultpture.

- Temperature and luminosity values of specific stars on the diagram inform the manner in which she weaves the reeds.
