Dance Administration Intern Thank you for your interest in the post of Dance Administration Intern at Dance4. Dance Administration Intern

Dance4 is committed to providing entry-level roles in the dance sector to support people who are staring out and helping them to achieve their ambitions.

The Dance Administration Intern will be offered a full-time, three months employment contract with Dance4 starting at the beginning of September. Some evening and weekend work will be required but time off in lieu will be given for this in addition to 6 days paid holiday.

The intern will be involved in different areas of Dance4’s work including live events, performances, residencies and young people’s programmes, social media, website and promotional marketing and operations. Work will include planning and preparation, event support, marketing and promotion, front of house and hospitality and general administration.

Job Description

To contribute to the programme, marketing and operations of Dance4, supporting the delivery of artistic, learning and public engagement activities.

Programme Support:

1. Undertake support work on a range of events throughout the period of the internship including working front of house, backstage and in workshops

2. Support planning of events including scheduling, arranging travel and accommodation and taking bookings

3. Prepare programme materials, equipment and catering if required

4. Undertake marketing activities including preparing a monthly newsletter, creating eflyers and updating the website

5. Writing and scheduling regular social media posts and other alternative forms of publicity to promote the programme

6. Research contacts, venues and other information required to develop audiences and participants

7. Contribute to programme monitoring, documentation and evaluation

8. Work on the reception desk at Dance4’s international Centre for Choreography to welcome visitors, deal with enquiries and promote the organisation

9. Support events, meetings and residencies at the Dance4 office and studios

General Duties:

10. To undertake day-to-day office administration including dealing with telephone, email and postal enquiries, upkeep of database and office records

11. To undertake word processing, spreadsheet and copying tasks as required for the day-to-day running of the organisation

Essential

1. Strong interest in a career in the dance sector

2. Knowledge of and an interest in dance

3. Basic computer skills, such as word processing and email

4. Understanding of current online social networks

5. Good communication skills, both written and verbal

6. Interest in marketing and publicity and in talking about the arts to the public

7. Ability to work in a small team and on own initiative

8. 3 A Levels and GCSE Maths and English passes or equivalent qualifications

9. Willingness to work in the evenings or at weekends if needed

12. Any experience in organising arts activities or live events

13. Any experience of working in an office setting

Dance Administration InternFull-Time, Fixed-term contract

Terms and Conditions

There will be a written contract of employment to include the following outline terms:

- The post is offered on a fixed term contract for three months with a preferred start date of Monday 4 September 2017

- The office base will be at Dance4 in central Nottingham. Travel maybe necessary around the city and across the East Midlands region for which expenses will be paid

- The post of Dance Administration Intern is offered at a fixed pay rate equivalent to £14,625 per year (National Living Wage)

- Payment will be made monthly in arrears after deduction of any tax and national insurance liabilities

- Leave during the contracted period will be 6 working days plus national holidays

- The working week will be 37.5 hours. There will be a certain amount of evening and weekend work. No overtime payments will be made but time off in lieu may be taken by arrangement

- All staff are obliged to act within the company’s equal opportunities policy
