National Senior CertificateTheNationalSeniorCertificate(NSC)isa3-yearprogrammethatconsistsofGrade10,11and12.ThismeansthateachGradehastobecompletedandpassedseparately.ANationalSeniorCertificate will be awarded to you after successful completion oftheNationalSeniorCertificateGrade12examinations.Thefinalexaminations in Grade 12 will be administered by the DepartmentofBasicEducation.TheNationalSeniorCertificateisawardedbyUmalusi.(TheNationalSeniorCertificateistheminimum requirement for entrance to higher education).
TheNationalSeniorCertificateisdesignedforlearnersresidinginSouthAfrica.Allface-to-faceassessmentswillONLYbeconductedinSouthAfricabyadesignatedNSCeducatorinhis/her subject of expertise.

Oral Component for Languages• YouwillberequiredtodoassessmentsfortheOral

• Theassessmentfortheoralcomponentforthelanguagesisa formal examination that is compulsory. It will form part of yourSBAmarkandpartofyourfinalexaminationmark.
• Theoralexaminationsarepartofaformalexaminationsession and therefore it is compulsory that you attend these.
Should you not attend any of the oral examinations, you will fail the entire subject and will have to repeat the subject the following year.

• Youmustkeepyourportfolioforeachsubjectneatlyfiledina safe place for the duration of your studies (and at least 6 months afterwards), because the College may, at any time, request that you submit it for moderation.
• YourportfoliowillbeinternallymoderatedbytheCollegeANDexternallymoderatedbytheDepartmentofBasicEducation.
Examinations• ThefinalexaminationsforGrade10contributes75%towards

examinations, controlled tests, oral examinations and Life OrientationPETsessions.UponFINALacceptanceofyourenrolment with the College, you will automatically be registeredfortheseassessmenttasks.
• ThecollegewillonlyprovideexaminationvenuesinmajorcentresineachprovinceinSouthAfrica.Specialarrangementscannotbemadeforlearnerswholiveontheoutskirtsofmajorcentres.
• Examinationfeesareexcludedfromyourenrolmentfees.ExaminationfeesareR650persubjectandaresubjecttochange.Examinationfeesarepayableby31March2014.

Life Orientation• OneofthetasksthatyouhavetocompleteforLife

theyear,withaLifeOrientationeducator,fortheevaluationofyourPhysicalEducationTask(PET).ThemarkobtainedforyourPhysicalEducationTask(PET)willformpartofyourSBAmark.YourstudyguideforLifeOrientationwillstipulatethenumber of compulsory contact sessions for each section of this task.

Oral Component for Languages• YouwillberequiredtodoassessmentsfortheOral

• Theassessmentfortheoralcomponentforlanguagesisaformal examination that is compulsory. It will form part of yourSBAmarkandpartofyourfinalexaminationmark.
• SBAmarkandpartofyourfinalexaminationmark.Theoralexaminations are part of a formal examination session and therefore it is compulsory that you attend these. Should you not attend any of the oral examinations, you will fail the entire subject and will have to repeat the subject the following year.
