ANANTNAG, June 3:Minister for Food, CivilSupplies & Consumer Affairsand Information Department,Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali todayreviewed the functioning ofFood, Civil Services and
Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA),Legal Metrology Department(LMD) and Department ofInformation and PublicRelation (DIPR) of Anantnag,Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopiandistricts.
The meeting was attended byDistrict Development Commis-sioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr.Syed Abid Rasheed Shah,Director FCS&CA, Nisar AhmadWani, Joint Controller LegalMetrology Amar Singh, ADDCAnantnag, ADC Pulwama andADC Shopian, Deputy Director
Information (PR), AssistantDirector FCS&CA and DistrictInformation Officers ofAnantnag, Kulgam, Pulwamaand Shopian, TSO and other offi-cers of Legal Metrology.
The concerned officersapprised the Minister with theperformance of the FSC&CA
Department. It was given outthat in Anantnag, the total pop-ulation benefitting fromNational Food Security Act(NFSA) is 9,04,666 and thenumber of priority households(PHH) is 6,34,261 while as thenumber of PHH in Pulwama,Shopian and Kulgam are350448, 167558 and 256699respectively. The Minister wasalso informed about the numberof beneficiaries under MuftiMohammad Sayeed FoodEntitlement Scheme (MMS-FES).
During the meeting, theMinister directed the AssistantDirectors (ADs) to hire the pri-vate vehicles for lifting of foodgrains at a depreciation hiringrate of 15% in case State RoadTransport Corporation (SRTC)fails to provide the requisitenumber of trucks.
Meanwhile, the Ministeralso directed the ADs to ensurethe lifting of all the food grainsunder NFSA and MMSFES iscompleted by 7th of this monthso that timely distribution ofrations is ensured.
Following the reports aboutthe pilferage of kerosene oil,the Minster directed the DistrictDevelopment Commissionersto constitute committees for thepurpose and submit the reportsin a time bound manner.
The Minister also under-scored the need of making thepublic distribution system moreeffective, efficient and prompt.He said that through new fairprice shops the department isembarking on the path of priva-tization, digitization andautomation.

SRINAGAR, June 3: UmangNarula, Chief Executive Officer,Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board,informed that after taking intoconsideration requests receivedfrom pilgrims and certain organi-zations, he has held discussionswith Chairman, Shri AmarnathjiShrine Board and it has beendecided to provide registrationoutlet at Leh to enable the touristtraveling in Ladakh to undertakethe Yatra.
Consequently, after discus-sions, Narula announced that theJ&K Bank Branch at MainMarket, Leh will provideadvance registration of yatrisfrom June 5. In this context, forthe convenience of Yatris theMedical Superintendents of theDistrict Hospitals of Leh andKargil have been authorized toissue Compulsory HealthCertificates to the intendingYatris.
Narula informed that for pil-grims all over India the registra-tion facilities are being providedto the Yatris through 436 branch-es of Punjab National Bank,Jammu and Kashmir Bank andYES Bank located in 32 Statesand UTs across the country. Forex- India pilgrims, the registra-tion facility is being providedonly through Punjab NationalBank. Further, for the conven-ience of Yatris who intend toundertake Yatra in groups, theShrine Board has also introduceda group registration facility.

The advance online bookingfor helicopter tickets com-menced on April 25, 2017. Theper passenger one way heli-farefor Yatra 2017 has been fixed atRs. 1,715 (inclusive of all taxes)for the Neelgrath-Panjtarniroute and Rs. 2,950 (inclusive ofall taxes) for the Pahalgam-Panjtarni sector.
CEO advised the Yatris thatthey must reach the respectivebase camps on the date forwhich they have registeredthemselves and informed thatthe Access Control Gates atBaltal / Domel and Chandanwariwill remain open from 5:00 a.mto 11.00 a.m every day.
Train catches fireat Qazigund

SRINAGAR, June 3: Feargripped passengers travelling inBanihal-Baramulla train when itsuddenly caught fire today atQazigund in south Kashmir.
Witnesses said a portion oftrain caught fire when it was onway to Srinagar at QazigundBridge, frightening passengerswho had boarded the train.
However, the fire was broughtunder control without any loss oflife, injury or major damage to thetrain.
The witnesses said that thecause of fire was apparently shortcircuit. "Had it not been broughtunder control quickly, it wouldhave resulted in tragedy. After theincident, the train again plied nor-mally," they added.

Singh, and members of histeam, had a useful exchange ofviews with the Governor about thechallenges of infrastructure devel-opment, implementation of flag-ship central schemes which wouldinclude critical assessments of thelonger time relevance/ utility ofcertain approaches, possibleapproaches towards stimulatinginfrastructural development in theState through Public PrivatePartnerships and evolving modali-ties for attracting private sectordesign, execution and operatingefficiencies so as to strengthen andupgrade the existing infrastructure.
Governor suggested to Singhto consider an area wise holisticapproach in regard to locationalplanning with particular attentionbeing given to the fusion of localarchitectural concepts which har-monise with the topography, cli-matic patterns and other distinctlocal attributes while decidinglocations and conceptualisinginfrastructure designs in variousregions of the State.

Dr. Bhandari apprised theGovernor, Chairman of the ShriAmarnathji Shrine Board, aboutthe arrangements being made for

He also informed Governorabout the yatra review meetingtaken by him earlier this week. TheDivisional Commissioner alsoinformed the Governor about thevarious steps taken by the division-al administration for providingrelief and rehabilitation to theinhabitants of the border areaswho are victims of frequent inci-dents of cross border firing.
Governor advised Dr.Bhandari to ensure provision of allrequired facilities for the Yatris,right from Lakhanpur Post toBanihal and, besides, to take duecare for providing basic amenitiesand ensuring the well being of vil-lagers affected by trans LoC firing.
Dr. Bhandari also met and heldextensive discussions with UmangNarula, Chief Executive Officer,Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, inregard to the forthcoming Yatra.

Jan Dhan will ensure human resource,economic development: Khanna

SAMBA, June 3: Thousandsof crores have been depositedinto Jan Dhan accounts and thisscheme will ensure socio-eco-nomic equality of the commonmasses.
This was stated by BJPNational Vice-President andPrabhari Avinash Rai Khannaduring a public rally heretoday.
On the occasion, Khannaalso administered oath to theparty activists and the generalpublic on Jan Dhan, Jal Dhanand Van Dhan.

Khanna further stated thatVan Dhan is related to develop-ment of the tribal people andtheir progress with forest basedeconomic activities. Thiswould ensure environment pro-tection, ecology conservationand economic progress of thepeople in most ethical way.
Jal Dhan is more related topreserving and conservingwater resources and develop-ing them for irrigation andtransport purposes. More irri-gation facilities will provide abetter opportunity to the farm-ers and end their suicides, headded.

SRINAGAR, June 3: Acomplete shut down wasobserved by traders in southernAnantnag town of SouthKashmir today to protest allegedhighhandedness of securityforces during yesterday's stone-throwing clashes.
All the shops and commer-cial establishments in Anantnagtown were closed since earlymorning. The traders said thatsecurity forces used excessiveforce against protesters andcommon people yesterday dur-ing post-Friday clashes.
They alleged that teargasshells fired by police caused firein local commercial complexesand resulted in gutting of twentygodowns and shops. A protestdemonstration against allegedhighhandedness of securityforces was staged by local shop-keepers and traders today and itconcluded on peaceful note.Police meanwhile denied allega-tions of traders and termed thembaseless.
Meanwhile, the situation inrest of the Kashmir remainedpeaceful and no incident of lawand order was reported fromanywhere.
