Union Govt has surrendered todictates of Mehbooba: Harsh Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 17:Disagreeing with the dangerousannouncement of a unilateralceasefire by the Union HomeMinister, during the currentmonth, scores of Panther activistsled by Harsh Dev SinghChairman, JKNPP and Yash PaulKundal State president YoungPanthers staged a protest demon-stration at Exhibition Groundhere, today.
The protesters while oppos-ing the ceasefire declaration inthe backdrop of encounters andcivilian killings in Kashmir, torched the effigy of the BJP forputting the life of the securitypersonnel at risk in the Valley. They accused the Saffron Partyof appeasing Chief Minister,Mehbooba Mufti merely to keepthe 'dirty alliance' intact in theState.
Lambasting the BJP ledCentral Government for placat-ing the separatists of the Valley,Harsh Dev Singh said that it hadbeen evident from the SaffronParty's incongruous stand overunilateral ceasefire that there wasa dichotomy between MHA andMoD on the issue. "India'sDefence Minister NirmalaSitharaman only recently backedGen. Bipin Rawat's stand that aunilateral ceasefire demanded byChief Minister, Mehbooba Muftiwas not a feasible option as theIndian Army had to "firmly han-dle" any terrorist activity thatthreatened the peace and harmo-
ny of the State. All of a suddenyesterday, the Home Minister,Rajnath Singh announcing onesided truce had raised eyebrowsof the defence personnel besidesbillions of nationalist Indianswho were feeling extremelydemoralized and disparaged bythe dangerous decision of theGoI. Its inability to snub thePDP's demand of unilateralceasefire against the militantshad proved that BJP could digestany muck for power", Harsh said.
Accusing the BJP of runningwith the hare and hunting withhound, Singh said that its duplic-ity and opportunist politics overthe declaration of unilateralceasefire had put the life ofdefence personnel in jeopardyand posed a serious threat to thepeace and the national security.
Endorsing the stand of IndianArmy against the unilateralceasefire, Harsh asked whowould stand guarantee that therewould be no attacks from theother side. He said that with noguarantors on a cessation of vio-lence from the other side, the saiddecision of GoI would make thesecurity forces cannon fodder forthe militants and the berserkmobs in the Valley.
Yash Paul Kundal, whileasserting that terrorists had noreligion, said that those who canattack children aged four yearsand the tourists could never beexpected to have any feelingswhether it was a holy month ofRamzan or a holy pilgrimage.Did they not attack the AmarNath Ji pilgrims last year? Howcould the GoI ignore this fact?asked Kundal.
