Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, June 28: Presiding Officer of Fast Track Court Sanjeev Gupta has acquitted one Hassan Bhatti, son of Mohd Sharief of Prem Nagar, Jammu, who was facing trial in kidnapping and rape case as prosecution miser- ably failed to prove its case. According to the police case, on May 7, 2009 father of the pros- ecutrix approached Police Post Gujjar Nagar and lodged a report to the effect that about 3/4 days back, prosecutrix had gone to visit the house of her maternal grand- mother situated at Jogi Gate when she went missing. The complainant also told the police that he has come to know that one Hassan Bhatti alias Sunny has kidnapped her daughter. On this, police registered a case and started investigation. During the investigation police recovered girl and after completion of inves- tigation challan was presented. After hearing Advocate Prince Khanna for the accused, Presiding Officer observed, “after taking into consideration the entire material on record and in view of the glaring loop holes in the case, it is not pos- sible to believe the evidence given by prosecutrix regarding her kid- napping and rape by the accused which is not only untrue but also not reliable”. “She appears to be a consent- ing party in whole act and had eloped with accused possibly on account of having affair with him”, the court said, adding “the prosecu- tion has miserably failed to bring home the guilt against the accused”. With these observations, Court dismissed the prosecution case and acquitted the accused. SFC nominated as channelizing agency for NMDFC in J&K: Rather Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, June 28: Asking the J&K State Financial Corporation (JKSFC) to hold monthly Business Review Meetings to further enhance its performance, the Minster for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather, who is also Chairman of the Corporation, today urged for providing hassle- free lending facilities to the prospective entrepreneurs without getting entangled into the cob-web of institutional formalities. He also urged for minimizing the gap peri- od between sanction and disburse- ment of the credit. "While financing fresh pro- posals, thorough appraisal should be carried out for minimizing pos- sible institutional formalities at the pre-sanction stage to ensure has- sle-free disbursement", Mr. Rather said while chairing the 232nd meeting of the Board of Directors of J&K SFC held here on Saturday. He said project imple- mentation should in no way get affected due to delayed disburse- ment for want of institutional for- malities. While appreciating the man- agement of the corporation for earning the distinction of being the only PSU in the State having updated its Annual Accounts, the Minster emphasized for further rejuvenating/ revitalizing its areas of operations viz. sanction, dis- bursement and recovery of loans. The Economic Advisor to Government Jalil Ahmad Khan, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, B.B. Vyas, Managing Director J&K SFC Mohammad Farooq Thoker, Taffazal Hussain (Director), Dy. General Managers, Mohd. Rafique Dar and Nazir Ahmad Bhat and Chief Manager, Shoukat Ahmad Wani also attend- ed the meeting. While urging for focused attention towards recoveries, the Minster said "current fiscal should be the year of recoveries" which he said was imperative for the financial health of the Corporation. For this purpose, he called for devising a comprehen- sive recovery policy and vigorous follow-up coupled with robust mechanism for recovery of over- due of the Corporation. He also called for efficient book keeping and management accounting, adding that cus- tomized training programmes for employees of the Corporation need to be organized to infuse the element of Professionalism and Human Resource Development in the rank and file of the Corporation. He stressed the need for a proper Assets Evaluation Policy in the Corporation. He also asked the management of the Corporation to gear up for shoul- dering responsibility of the chan- nelizing agency of the National Minority Development Finance Corporation (NMDFC) in the State. The Minister also asked the Corporation to enhance and diversify its business and build good portfolio with main focus to identify the changing needs of the customers and strive to fulfill these needs to their utmost satisfaction. He urged for improving the assets quality and volume of business growth while keeping customer satisfaction as its top priority. The Managing Director informed the meeting that the Corporation after remaining in red for about 10 years is now earning profit since last three years and that its net worth has substantially improved to Rs. (+)25.24 crore. Besides, approving the Balance Sheet of the Corporation and profit and loss accounts for the year ended 2013-14, the Board also approved to implement the SRO 164 of June 5, 2014 entitling employees of the Corporation to avail the retirement age of 60 years at par with the other employ- ees of the State Government. CM announces relief for Uri road accident victims Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, June 28: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced relief of Rs. 1 lakh each for the deceased in the road accident that took place in Uri. He has also announced relief of Rs 10,000 for the injured in the acci- dent. Omar Abdullah while express- ing grief over the accident con- veyed his solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved families. He also prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and early recovery of the injured. Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din visited the families of those killed in accident at Uri and expressed his heart felt sym- pathies with them. The Minister also handed over relief cheques of Rs. 1 lakh each to the kin of four Uri residents and handed over the fifth cheque to DC, Ramban for onward disburse- ment to the fifth killed person who hailed from Ramban district. Meanwhile, the District Administration, Baramulla hand- ed over relief cheques to the injured also. The ADDC, Mukhtar visited SKIMS and handed over cheques worth Rs. 10,000 each to all those injured in the accident. People's cooperation imperative for development: Bhalla Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, June 28: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla today highlighted the importance of public cooperation for effective implementation of develop- ment schemes. The Minister was address- ing a large gathering at Lower Gaddigarh after launching Rs. 50 lakh development works in the area, here this afternoon. He assured the residents of Lower Gaddigarh that all their development related issues would be redressed on priority basis, adding that the Government has laid focus to develop all the localities on modern lines by providing safe drinking water, power, better roads, bye-lanes, drains, besides educational and health- care infrastructure. Mr. Bhalla asked the exe- cuting agency to complete all the projects within stipulated time frame so that the benefits reach to people at the earliest. Mr. Bhalla said that the Government was fully aware of hardships of weaker sections of the society and was making all out efforts to mitigate the same on priority basis. He hoped that the people will cooperate with executing agencies in effective implementation of develop- ment works in their basties. To deal with drinking water scarcity at Lower Gaddigarh, Langer and Ambika Colony, the Minister said Government has prepared a detailed project report of Rs. 3 crore for laying of water supply pipes in periph- eral areas of these localities to provide relief to the people. He said with the laying of supply pipes, the drinking water scarcity in the areas would be solved to a large extent. Responding to local issues, the Minister informed that two revenue complex involv- ing a cost of Rs. 1.28 crore are under progress to provide rev- enue related services to the people of Karan Bagh, Lower Gaddigarh, Chatha, Bhour Camp Rani Talab and old Satwari and its adjoining areas under one roof. He assured that these would be completed within stipulated time frame. The Minister assured the people that all their genuine demands and development needs would be fulfilled in a phased manner, adding that there was no constraint of funds in providing adequate basic amenities to the people of all the three regions of the State. Later, the Minister also inspected construction work on PHC, Community Hall, Cremation Ground, Playfield and Tehsildar building at Lower Gaddigarh, to be com- pleted at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.70 crore. Later, Mr. Bhalla along with a team of officers visit- ed Shri Amarnath Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar and reviewed the arrangements made by the district adminis- tration for the convenience of the yatries.
