Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Aug 1: Daily Wagers and casual labours of Public Health Engineering (PHE) depart- ment today appealed Government to regularize their services. The PHE dailywagers and casual labours had organized one day convention at Town hall Pulwama and had invited Chief Minister's political analyst, Waheed-ur-Rahman Parra and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Khalil Bandh. The con- vention was organized by the employees of twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian. On the occasion, the PHE employees appealed Parra and Bandh to take up the issue of reg- ularization with the Government. The employees said that many of them are working since year 1993 as dailywagers and casual labours and even after 22 years they have not been regularized. "We staged dozens of protests to wake up the Government but so far we have not been regularized," they said, adding: "many of us are those who are retiring just after two or three months." Excelsior Correspondent SAMBA, Aug 1: To check the attendance and inspect the healthcare facilities, District Development Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda along and different teams of officers today paid surprise visits to the Government offices and Hospitals of the district. During her visit to the District Hospital, the DDC reviewed the health services, checked attendance registers and staff position. She took a round of the wards of the hospi- tal and interacted with the patients there. The cleanliness in and around the hospital was also checked and directions were passed for taking utmost care regarding health and hygiene. Deputy Medical Superintendent Samba Bharat Bushan accompanied DDC Samba during the inspection. Similarly ADC Samba con- ducted the inspection of Emergency Hospital Vijaypur while SDM Vijaypur inspected the Community Health Centre Ramgarh. During the teams checked the attendance of staff and inspected the wards, OPD section and other facilities. The ADDC and ACR also inspected offices in DC com- plex. They checked attendance registers, staff strength of each office and issued strictly direct- ed all officers to be punctual develop work culture in their respective offices. The employees Asif Mehmood Manhas, MPHW and Javaid Ahmed, Safai Wala were found involved when the Sub Divisional Magistrate and SHO Surankote on the com- plaint of general public con- ducted a raid in the SDH Surankote and found some bottles of liquor and fried chicken pieces in the store rooms. Taking serious note of their involvement the SDM placed both the employees under suspension. Court denies bail in dowry death case Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Aug 1: Special Mobile Magistrate Passenger Tax Jammu, Amit Gupta rejected the bail application of a lecturer namely Rajnesh Kumar, who was arrested by the police in abetment to suicide case of his wife Parul Sharma. After hearing both the sides, court observed, “the statements of many witnesses were recorded and another angle from which the investigation is still required to be conducted is the alleged relations of deceased which are required to be proved”, adding “the public interest does not allow the accused to move freely and con- front the family members of the victim day in and day out”. With these observations, court rejected the bail application.
