● The Central Information Commission is a statutory body,set up under the Right to

Information Act in 2005 under the Government of India to act upon complaints from

those individuals who have not been able to submit information requests to a Central

Public Information Officer or State Public Information Officer due to either the officer not

have been appointed, or because the respective Central Assistant Public Information

Officer or State Assistant Public Information Officer refused to receive the application

for information under the Right to Information Act.

● The commission includes one chief information commissioner and not more than ten

information commissioners who are appointed by the President of India on the

recommendation of a committee consisting of the Prime Minister as Chairperson, the

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha; a Union Cabinet Minister to be nominated by

the Prime Minister. Two women have been chief information commissioners: Deepak

● The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (abbreviated to EPFO),

is an organization tasked to assist the Central Board of Trustees,

Luxembourg becomes first country to make public transport free

Sri Lanka to lead science, technology and innovation sector in BIMSTEC

श्रीिांका BIMSTEC में दवज्ञान, प्रौद्योदगकी और नवािार के्षत्र का नेतृत्व करेगा

• Sri Lanka will lead the science, technology and

innovation sector in the BIMSTEC and a facility for

technology transfer is planned to be opened in the

future.

• This was agreed during the 20th Session of the senior

officials’ meeting chaired by Sri Lankan Foreign

Secretary Ravinatha Aryasinha in Colombo.

• Sri Lanka,will also appoint a Director to the BIMSTEC

secretariat in June.

• Sri Lanka is mandated to lead the sector on Science,

Technology and Innovation under which cooperation in

Technology, health and human resource development

is also included.

• Bangladesh was mandated to lead Trade, Investment

and Development, Bhutan – Environment and Climate

Change, Myanmar – Agriculture and Food Security,

India – Security (Counter Terrorism and Transnational

Crime, Disaster Management & Energy), Nepal –

People to people contact (culture, tourism, forums of

Think Thanks, Media etc) and Thailand – Connectivity.

Janaushadhi Week being celebrated from March 1 to 7

• Janaushadhi week is being celebrated across the

country from the 1st of this month through more

than 6200 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi

Kendras.

• Jan Aushadhi Kendra owners are organising

different types of activities for making awareness

about health and hygiene.

• Free distribution camps for Suvidha Sanitary

Napkins were held at about 2000 places and more

than 50,000 Sanitary Napkin packets were given

free of cost to the women.

• Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana is

a noble initiative of the Government which is now

making an impact on masses in its endeavor to

provide quality medicines at an affordable price.

• The total sales in the financial year 2019-20 till

February have crossed 383 crore which led to total

savings of about 2200 crore rupees of common

citizens.

Setu Bharatam scheme: All level crossings on NH to be replaced by

Over/under Bridges

सेतु भारत योजना: एनएि पर सभी स्र के क्रॉदसांग को ओवर/अांडर दिज से बदिा जाएगा

● Government has envisaged replacement of all the level

crossings on National Highways by Road Over Bridges or

Road Under Bridges under the Setu Bharatam scheme.

● The programme is being implemented by the Road

Transport and Highways Ministry to ensure safe and

smooth flow of traffic and reduce road fatalities by 50

percent by 2020.

● Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Setu

Bharatam scheme on 4th March in 2016 for building rail

over-bridges or underpasses for safe and seamless travel

on National Highways.

● Setu Bharatam programme was launched to make all

National Highways free of railway level crossings in order

to prevent the frequent accidents and loss of lives at level

crossings.

● 208 places were identified for construction of rail over-

bridges or underpasses under the project at a cost of

nearly 10,200 crore rupees.

● The Ministry of Road Transport Highways and Ministry of

Railways have signed an MoU to replace all level

crossings by Road Over Bridges or Road Under Bridges.

• सरकार सेतु भारत योजना के तहत राष्ट्र ीय राजमागों पर रोड

ओवर दिज या रोड अांडर दिज से सभी िेवि क्रॉदसांग को

बदिेगी।

दिए 4 मािच 2016 को सेतु भारत योजना शुरू की थी।

• िगातार होने वािे हादसोां और जानमाि के नुकसान को रोकने

के दिए सभी राष्ट्र ीय राजमागों को रेिवे िेवि क्रॉदसांग से मुक्त

बनाने के दिए सेतु भारत कायचक्रम शुरू दकया गया था।

• िगभग 10,200 करोड रुपये की िागत से पररयोजना के तहत

रेि ओवर-दिज या अांडरपास के दनमाचण के दिए 208 स्थानोां

की पहिान की गई थी।

• सडक पररवहन राजमागच और रेि मांत्रािय ने रोड ओवर दिज

या रोड अांडर दिज द्वारा सभी स्र के क्रॉदसांग को बदिने के

दिए एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ाक्षर दकए हैं।

Western Railway announces bonus of 5% for every recharge to R-Wallet

वेस्टनच रेिवे ने आर-वॉिेट् के दिए हर ररिाजच के दिए 5% का बोनस देने की घोषणा की- ANI

● As an incentive to promote mobile ticketing,

Western Railway had announced a bonus of 5

percent for every recharge to the R-Wallet until

24th August 2020.

● The existing bonus scheme, which expired last

week, has been extended to encourage more

and more users to use mobile ticketing.

● Western Railways has said that passengers are

requested to patronize the use of UTS Mobile

Ticketing App and avail the enhanced benefits

attached with their use.

● The Western Railway is one of the 18 zones of

Indian Railways and is Headquartered in

Churchgate, Mumbai.

IRDAI asks insurance companies to design policies to cover coronavirus

IRDAI ने बीमा कां पदनयोां से कोरोनवायरस को कवर करने के दिए नीदतयाां दडजाइन करने

के दिए कहा

Authority of India, IRDAI has asked insurers

to expeditiously settle hospitalisation claims

related to novel coronavirus disease under

health policies.

● In a circular, the Regulator has instructed

insurance companies to come out with

policies to cover treatment costs for

coronavirus infection.

● It said, the costs of admissible medical

expenses during the course of treatment

including quarantine period, should be settled

in accordance with the applicable terms and

conditions.

• भारतीय बीमा दवदनयामक और दवकास

प्रादिकरण, IRDAI ने बीमा कां पदनयोां से कहा है

दक वे स्वास्थ्य नीदतयोां के तहत उपन्यास

coronavirus outbreak

have been moved out of the novel coronavirus

cancellation of several badminton tournaments,

disrupting the build-up to the Tokyo Olympics.

cancelled, postponed or moved in recent weeks

all over the world because of the deadly virus.

What are Virtual Currencies

• There is no globally accepted definition of what exactly is virtual currency.

• Basically, virtual currency is the larger umbrella term for all forms of non-fiat currency being traded online.

• Fiat Money is a kind of currency, issued by the government and regulated by a central authority such as a central bank.

• Virtual currencies are mostly created, distributed and accepted in local virtual networks. Virtual Currencies also includes cryptocurrencies.

• Madan Lal Dhingra was born on 18 February 1883 in Amritsar, India.• In June 1906, Dhingra left Amritsar for Britain. He enrolled in University College,

• Dhingra arrived in London a year after the foundation of Shyamaji Krishnavarma's India House in 1905.

• Dhingra came into contact with noted Indian independence and political activists Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and Shyamji Krishna Varma.

• He joined, and had a membership in, a secretive society, the Abhinav Bharat Mandal founded by Savarkar and his brother Ganesh.

• During this period, Savarkar, Dhingra, and other student activists were enraged by the Partition of Bengal (1905).

Curzon Wyllie's assassination

• On 1 July 1909, he attended an 'At Home' hosted by the National Indian Association at the Imperial Institute.

• At the end of the event, as the guests were leaving, Dhingra shot Sir Curzon-Wyllie, an India Office official, at close range.

• He claimed that he had murdered Curzon-Wyllie as a patriotic act and in revenge for the inhumane killings of Indians by the British Government in India.

• Few weeks before killing Curzon Wyllie, Dhingra had tried to kill Lord Curzon, who was the most arrogant of all Viceroys.
