Teen Museum Council Do you like social media? Like to make art? Want to create fun activities for your friends andother area teens? Wonder what it might be like to work in a museum? Like American history orpop culture? If so, join the National Portrait Gallery's Teen Museum Council. The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery (NPG) invites you to join their Teen Museum Council(TMC). TMC is an intensive program for D.C.area teens (ages 1418) who are interested inleadership; want to learn about themselves through portraiture, history and art; and want tomake NPG a place for teenagers to have a great experience.
Throughout the 20152016 academic year, NPG TMC members have the opportunity to work on avariety of activities such as creating teencentered events for other D.C.area teens, learningopportunities with workshops and training sessions with museum professionals, and gainexperience at the museum while developing creative and critical thinking skills. Here are some ofthe possible teencentered events or activities that the Teen Museum Council could organize:· An art exhibition· A teen night out· Social media projects· A video project· A special teenled tour TMC is a yearlong commitment that meets once a week (SeptemberJune) on Wednesdaysduring the school year.Come and make history at the National Portrait Gallery! University of the District of Columbia FREE Summer Enrichment Program
The University of the District of Columbia Office of Academic Advising is offering a free SummerEnrichment program for graduating high school seniors. This is an eight session program, that willrun twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30am 12:30pm and 6:00pm 8:00pmfrom July 7th through July 30th and will be located at The University of the District of Columbia,Van Ness Campus. By attending the program, students will learn the strategies for academic success includingwriting, study skills, timemanagement, goalsetting, research, and other best practices. Studentswill work with UDC faculty, staff and advisors to prepare for the transition from high school tocollege. Participants will have the opportunity to strengthen academic skills, build a supportive
learning community, and learn about the resources that are available on the UDC campus. All admitted and confirmed UDCFlagship students who complete all eight sessions will receive aUDC $100 book voucher. If they complete four sessions, they will receive a UDC $50 bookvoucher. All participants must complete registration and consent forms prior to attending anysessions.
