PROFILE

A hands on qualified Engineer and Business Director who has consistently directed teams in excess of 1500 in production, repair, and maintenance and service environments internationally, involving products requiring high levels of quality in Rail Safety Case (RSC), JAR 145 and ISO 9001 cultures. Prior to 1995 I was in the armed forces

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Introduce Successful Business Growth Strategies Using Cross-fertilisation from other Service Industries

Over a 30 year period I have moved successfully between Rail, Aviation and Building Facility Management industries, achieving business success in all. In my previous role as General Manager of a Serco Joint Venture Operational Facilities Management and Consultancy company I achieved a 5 fold increase in the annual turnover and bottom line through the implementation of a successful Business Development Strategy and market evaluation which maximised organic growth and new business targets.

Achieved Contracted Targets In A Faltering O & M Organisation

Successfully recognised operational and planning shortcomings in a high profile aviation (Defence Helicopter Flying School, UK) organisation that was failing to meet the contracted output. Introduced wide ranging and radical changes to provide the required levels of service to the total satisfaction of the hitherto dissatisfied customer whilst remaining within the target cost of £18m

Reduced Equipment Life Cycle Costs By £5m+

Recognised process inflexibility for producing long and short-term military aircraft maintenance; I introduced a revised procedure using existing data sources to give a more accurate forecast. This reduced productive effort and maintenance costs significantly.

Composed And Implemented Processes And Procedures

Analysed organisational methods of operation across the spectrum and composed and implemented processes and procedures to ISO 9002 standards gaining certification for the company

Achieved Operational Deadline / Improved Customer Satisfaction

Planned a major project with the aim of reducing the ‘C Check’ productive time per aircraft by 75%, to 21 days for 9 aircraft in Bosnia; this was achieved within tight time constraints through innovative use of existing manpower and resources. In addition the organisation’s credibility with its customers dramatically improved.

Improved Production Activities

Responsible for producing a framework to improve production activities; This included developing a process for monitoring usage of customer equipment, improving time management and highlighting critical success factors. The efficiency of resource allocation improved and ultimately equipment down time was reduced.

Improved Organisational Technical Competence

Successfully designed, planned and implemented a major training initiative for all junior engineers. The package included career counselling, motivation and validation. This resulted in a standardised quality training programme that increased technical competence throughout the organisation.
