CV Marieke Sonneveld Born on September 29, 1962, in the Netherlands Raised in Lebanon, Egypt and Italy Speaks Dutch, French, English and Italian Academic profile Current Position: Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of technology, Section Design Aesthetics. Current Field of Research: Understanding the Tactual Aesthetic Experience: how objects are perceived through the sense of touch, and how this tactual perception affects the (un)pleasantness of our experience of this object. I developed a conceptual framework to unravel the tactual experience, and to be able to communicate about it. Design for aesthetic experience: exploring how designers can include awareness for tactual aesthetics in their design projects. Not by developing guidelines, but by researching how designers can develop their tactual aesthetic sensitivity. The design research focuses on healthcare and well being. Current Academic Education: Involved in different (design) courses as design coach and as expert on touch, such as the master courses ‘Exploring interactions’, and ‘Product Use, Understanding and Experience’, and the bachelor courses ‘Design and Experience’ and ‘Design for the fuzzy front end’. Supervisor of Master Graduation Projects (in total over 100 supervised), mainly in the master ‘Design for Interaction’. Coordinator of the master course ‘Generic Professional Skills’, in which students develop and reflect on competencies such as teamwork, communication, creativity, and graduation and career planning. This course is for all master students at IDE. Coordinator of the master course ‘Reflections on Designing’: students are invited to develop a vision on themselves as designers: what are their ambitions, their beliefs, what do they stand for? Education 1989 Master of Science in Industrial Design, Delft University of Technology 1993 Post academic education ‘Human factors in Working Environments’, University of Antwerp 2007 PhD ‘Aesthetics of tactual experience’, Delft University of Technology, 2010 Senior Qualification Academic Education, Delft University of Technology Work Experience 20072015 Assistant professor at Delft University of Technology 20002007 Researcher at Delft University of Technology 19932012 Design teacher at The Design Academy Eindhoven, Bachelor as well as Master level 19892007 Design research consultancy on Ergonomics: Nomos 20072015 Design research consultancy on Tactility: Tactual affairs
