As a Test Manager, I focus on ensuring that test delivers value to the project. When managing test I strive to ensure:

● Continuous improvement of processes and strive to introducy agility and interdisciplinarity.

● Tester professionalism. Processes must be supported by efficient use of tools, methods and techniques.

My background was as a programmer and spans over ten years all within software development, and especially test. As a tester my focus has been on technical test. As a test leader I have mostly managed large time- and business critical deliveries. As a person I am driven and goal oriented. A team player who works toward motivating everybody toward the same goal, without forgetting anyone or letting any team member get overloaded. My professionalism within testing ensures that I can advise and take decisions based on a solid foundation of experience.Tom has studied computer science at Stockholm university. His greatest focus within his field has always been to constantly develop his proffessional competence.

2016-11 – IKEA

This was maintaining and updating IKEA.com’s payment systems globally. An extremely business critical system, as any hiccup no matter how minor will rapidly cost the client millions of Euros. Tom’s focus is on test management, both narrowly and widely. Apart from manging the day-to-day activities Tom’s major focus is on process improvement. Due to the high cost of failures the focus on quality is extremely high. Tom was employed in this capacity due to his long experience and expert knowledge in the field.

The development process is agile, with some lingering waterfall aspects. CR’s are managed with Clear Quest, test cases with ALM and documents with Project Place.

2016-09 – 2016-11 KOMBIT

This was a high-profile high-pressure assignment at KMD, for the Danish government/KOMBIT. Tom’s job was to be a test-manager solely for the performance aspect. Testing was carried out with JMeter and Appdynimics. This ended up being a very challenging project, due to it’s complexity. There were several unexpected obstacles with less than obvious solutions.

Tom was responsible for planning and reporting on the tests. As well as defect management. The defect management aspect was unorthodox, since Tom was also responsible for investigation of bugs as well as leading the developers that fixed them. So the test management job was wider than what is customary.

2015-06 – 2015-12 Statens Järnvägar/Swedish state railways

Combined role, test leader, tester and Scrum Master at Swedish state railways. The goal fo the project was to replace all of SJ’s ticket vending machines. Built on a client using modern web techniques and frameworks. The back-end API was shared with all other sales channels which increased the complexity of testing and coordination of disparate testers. The hardware was purpose built by an external provider with its own tester Tom also led. Tom staffed and led the team setting up the automated tests.

Tom was also responsible for staffing for and leading non-functional tests and testers. Security test, accessibility tests and performance tests.

2014-08 – 2014-09 MikzThe Mikz project develops and maintains the smart phone app Mikz. A blogghub for mobiles targeted at the public.

Tom was introduced as an external and experiemced test expert to improve their test process, create a new test plan and support the test leader generaly.

2013-04 – 2014-06 TAD-S/TAD transformation A large and complex project where, in the role as aceptance test leader Tom has led and coordinated a total of 55 resources (testers, developers, support staff, test environment personnel). In the assignment it included to make a test plan, map risks to other system, identify which systems was required to test, find test data, staff resources, find test designers as well as finding testers to execute these. Toward the end Tom also took over the system-and integration testleading role.

The assignment also included coordinating the automated test designers. A part of this was to identify which parts were was worth automating and which weren’t. Over time Tom also became a designated “super user” for HP QC/ALM at Telia and involved when tweaking this tool for all of Telia test in general.

2012-09 – 2013-04 PuLThe assignement was to clear TeliaSoneras databases of sensitive data they no longer had a right to store according to no legal demands (PuL). Tom was responsible for assuring quality under the development sprints as well as planing for the coming integration testing. The challenge for TeliaSonera was to remove this data without destabilising the databases. Much of work was about producing new test cases for both sprint tests as well as full flow through the system, as well as verifying bugg fixes, checking server logs, and database verifications

2012-05 – 2012-09 Database migration TeliasoneraA project to merge and migrate several databases. These were large legecy databases which needed to migrated in several steps. Each step needed to be separetly and all together verified. The primary tasks comprised in production and review of requirements specifications and solution descriptions as well as estimation and release planning. Moreover, the assignment included tasks in the area of test management, herunder establishment/review of test strategies and test plans, and training of insourced testers and developers. Other tasks were: Performance tuning, business capacity planning, method and process improvement work

2012-05 – 2012-09 Sergel DISergel is Telias bank and they dealt in, among other things, debt collection. Due to new legal demands debt bills needed to be specified more in detail. The main challenge for this project was that Sergel had never used systematic testing before. A test organisation, and processes had to be built from scratch as well as convicing the staff of the value of test. The next challenge lay in that the supplier had grossly underestimated the complexity of the product. This put greater emphasis on the acceptance testing than what had been expected from a project this size. There was also the problem of having to make due with a testing budget not dimensioned for the amount of tests we ended up having to do. Because of the law coming into effect at a given date there was no room for delays. The assignment included creating a test plan, map risks, identify required systems that needed to be tested in peripheral systems, find relevant test data and find resources to write and execute the tests.

2012-06 – 2012-09 Total-INNordea changed formats for their payments and TeliaSonera had to adapt their systems to match. Tom was the responsible test leader which gave him insight into Nordeas testing process and testing environments.

2011-01 – 2012-05 Play+



Tom was an acceptance test leader for a large project to create a web-TV system. Tom led a mixed team of customer support staff, as well as professional testers (for the more technically advanced parts). At most he coordinated 23 resources. A very demanding project whose technical solution required changes in all of Telia’s core systems. The assignment included producing a test plan, map risks, identify required systems that needed to be tested in peripheral systems, find relevant test data and find resources to write and execute the tests.

2009-09 – 2010-09 AlectaThis was maintenance of Alectas payment modul, URAX. Tom had two roles. Partly as system test designer and system tester of URAX. The role demanded good knowledge of SQL as well as bank which suited Tom. The other role was as a test leader for the integration with other systems. This was demanding since Alecta had a very complex environment with very little central coordination. Every system was on it’s own, pretty much. In the system- and integration test leading he needed to coordinate with the other test leaders and inform them what they could need to test as regards to the payments. He had to secure resources to do these tests as well as participate in risk workshops.Both roles demanded about as much time.

2009-02 – 2009-06 Euroclear - database aggregationThis was a database focused assignment. Tom performed system test design and system testing for a report system for stock ownership. The project was to create an analysis tool using aggregated data, from their databases. These aggregations could be very complex. This placed great demands on knowing SQL as it needed sophisticated database verifications. Fault tolerance for going live was 0% errors. Tom was lead technical tester managing several testers. He performed test analysis as well as hands on testing. The assignment consisted in establishing the requirements baseline for the test, introducing a system to document requirements, production of test specifications, test execution, and training of internal resources in test automation.

2008-06 – 2008-11 EDW database migrationThe EDW project was a migration of Telias data wearhouse solution. Because these databases were used as foundations for future business decisions it was critical that these were migrated without the data being warped. As well as the collection of the data in the future would generate matching data as in the past. Tom performed risk assessments, acceptance test desigen, acceptance test migration. The project was mired with quality problems as well as unreliable system tests by the suppliers. This led to us getting Indian resources (sitting in India) which Tom coordinated.

2007-08 – 2008-08 Apollo TeliasoneraThe Apollo project at Telia Sonera, dedicated to developing their customer relations system. This was a vast system with a number of shorter projects. Tom did acceptance test design, acceptance tests, system test design, system testing. The system had a lot of legacy code which complicated testing immensely. Over time Tom got increasing responsibilities and systems responsible for. Toms background as a developer meant he was put in charge of testing anything technically challenging, ex running batches, unix-scripting, database script design and logging scripts.



1999-09 – 2001-09 MantacoreAt Mantacore Tom’s focus was on insurance systems, mostly server-side components in webb application, back office-systems as well as plenty database modelling. Among the customers were Moderna Försäkringar/Atantica, Netviq och GoodGuy. This included all their systems from web pages to loss adjustment systems. Toward the end Tom also helped to start their testing division.

1999-01 – 1999-09 SyncmediacomASP, webb development of the intranet for the requiting firm Morgan and Partner. Tom was responsible for the maintanence fo their intranet and backoffice system. Techniques/tools
