That’s because, as avid bowhunters (and admittedly average shooters!), we recognize the importance quality materials, high engineering standards, and an easy-to-shoot design brings to the traditional archery experience. And that’s a legacy we’re proud of.

The Predator Legacy

Predator Bows were born from a pursuit of passion. In the late 1980s, Ron Pittsley became a student of bow building, intent

on making replacement components and bows for his own use. His “build a better mousetrap” mindset prompted a bow design

heralded by many, and led to the first bow orders. Through the early 1990s, the Pittsley Predator grew in popularity, leading to

an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement with a major archery manufacturer in 1995. There Ron met Mike Hoadley, a business professional and archery industry expert who shared

his passion for traditional archery. Ron and Mike quickly became good friends and hunting partners. In the late 1990s, Predator

Bows were removed from the larger company’s lineup, so it was an easy decision for Ron and Mike to join forces and start a new company to continue the Predator legacy and to introduce

more traditional archery products. Thus, Hunter’s Niche was formed, and Predator Bows were improved and relaunched

along with the addition of new bow models and accessories. Now, over 20 years since its inception, Predator recurves

are known throughout the archery industry and within elite bowhunting circles as the best traditional bows...anywhere.

The Predator Limb Fit SystemAll Predator take-down recurve bows produced since 1996 feature the Predator Limb Fit (P.L.F) system. This is an interchangeable limb design that allows for any combination of Predator risers and limbs regardless of a bow’s age or model. With the P.L.F. system, you can change your bow’s draw weight, length, or style without the need for sending the components back to our factory for retrofitting. In addition to this unique interchangeability, the P.L.F. system provides for a solid limb-to-riser mount and consistent limb alignment every time, regardless of how many times the components have been disassembled and reassembled. And unlike other interchangeable systems on the market today, the P.L.F. system is designed and built in the U.S.A. by Predator Bows. This eliminates the confusion and compromises that are typical of other limb systems.

Predator FutureWoodPredator FutureWood is made of domestic hardwoods impregnated and stabilized with a proprietary blended acrylic resin for added strength, weight, and pigment. It is superior to exotic woods in performance, durability, and resistance to the elements, all while utilizing domestic wood supplies. This stabilization process allows the use of solid woods and does not rely on multiple laminations that take away from the wood’s unique grain and natural beauty, making it superior in every way. FutureWood is available in a wide variety of custom colors, ranging from the most elegant to the very bold.

Velocity Take-DownThe Velocity is a high-tech variant of the Predator take-down recurve. The riser is machined from a solid aluminum billet and features independent pivoting limb mounts (pockets). These pivoting limb mounts allow for slight draw weight adjustments and precise tiller tuning while accepting the interchangeable P.L.F. (Predator Limb Fit) system. That means the Velocity riser is interchangeable with any Predator limbs built from 1996 to present.

Expect increased performance from the Velocity due to an additional 3/4-inch increase in reflex. This increased reflex provides more pre-load to the limbs, resulting in a longer power stroke at a reduced brace height.

The Velocity retains the classical Predator profile while strategic coring (for reduced weight) and a durable black textured finish deliver a striking modern look without abandoning traditional styling. All standard archery accessory mounting holes are machined into the billet riser, including an additional plunger/rest hole above the crowned shelf. This dual-purpose design allows the bow to be shot either off-the-shelf or with an elevated arrow rest set-up. Velocity is further customizable to varying shooter styles thanks to its interchangeable grip, which can be swapped with many popular machined-style riser grips, depending on shooter preference. The riser comes with a self-locating, medium wrist, pistol-style grip made specifically for the Velocity for comfort and shootability.

A vintage look and timeless style that is unmistakably a Predator! The Predator Custom Take-Down is a laminated riser comprised of various wood options for the grip, decorative accent stripes, and complimenting Fall Brown or Charcoal FutureWood limb mounting ends. Each riser is enhanced with an overlay on the back (facing target) and limb-matching black glass on the belly side. The riser is then sealed and coated in a durable non-glare satin finish. Part of the P.L.F. system, the Custom riser is interchangable with any Predator limbs built from 1996 to present. Available in R/H or L/H. Custom wood options available upon request.

The Hunter DX riser is an attractive, simple, and economical approach for making the perfect hunting bow. It’s based on the same proven design as the Custom riser but without the added cost of multiple woods, accent stripes, and additional steps to put it all together. The Hunter DX is made from solid FutureWood, giving it added weight, strength, and resistance to the elements when compared to exotic woods. Each riser is unique because the wood’s natural grain remains undisturbed, unlike cheaper multiple lamination risers which look like “plywood.” The riser is enhanced with an overlay on the back (facing target) and limb-matching black on the belly side. It is then sealed and coated in a durable non-glare satin finish. Choose from earthy Fall Brown or Charcoal FutureWood colors. Our goal was to develop a hunter-focused longbow model that delivered on all the key benefits of the heralded Predator recurve line, such as class-leading speed, smooth draw, ergonomic grip profile, point-of-aim arrow shelf, and aesthetic wood combinations.

One of the hallmarks of the LoBo is its slim, self-locating grip, providing for optimal hand alignment. This grip design is a direct carryover from the Predator recurve and, like the Predator, it gives the LoBo optimal hand alignment and neutralizes torque for consistent shot dynamics. Another key design element is the low arrow shelf. This allows the arrow to ride just above the archer’s knuckle to help deliver the elusive “shoot-where-you-look” advantage so sought after by true instinctive shooters. It has a comfortable self-locating grip and low arrow shelf to provide forgiveness and shootability with minimal hand shock. The Phoenix is for the archer who appreciates technology yet honors tradition. Featuring a traditional D-shape when strung and longer over-all bow lengths, it is hard to believe how much smooth power the Phoenix produces.
