IGNITING IDEASWe’ve all had a brilliant idea for an invention at some stage in our lives, but Curtin Ignition entrepreneur Marc Berryman has gone a step further and taken his concept for car protection from backyard prototype to the whole of Australia.

Berryman’s brainchild is a removable paintwork protection system for four-wheel drive vehicles. Aptly named Rhinohide, it’s made from high-impact ABS plastic panels that conform perfectly to a vehicle’s surface with neodymium magnets, allowing drivers to venture off-road without worrying about scratching their car.

Berryman has received support from two sets of private investors in Perth, and has appeared on Network Ten’s Shark Tank, where he earned investment from two ‘sharks’ to expand his offerings to suit a wider variety of vehicle models.

Since 1995 the Curtin Centre for Entrepreneurship has trained more than 4,000 Western Australian business owners in managing and growing their businesses.

MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIPThis course is ideal if you wish to expand your horizons beyond domestic markets and working for others, and you are considering building a global start-up, as a key employee or even as a founder.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) (GLOBAL)You can undertake the Master of Business Administration (MBA)(Global) for emerging leaders directly after completing a bachelor degree in any discipline.

The two-year course starts with a one-week orientation program, which introduces you to the faculty and industry advisors, and demonstrates the importance of effective engagement and building relationships in the global market. You’ll then study 14 units at Curtin’s main campus in Bentley over four semesters, consisting of core global business knowledge, global practice and analytical practice.

The focus on global markets helps you to understand a variety of global business practices. You’ll learn to work independently and in teams, and develop your leadership skills through work-integrated learning and mentorships.

FUTURE LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP The MBA (Global) Future Leaders Scholarship has been developed by Curtin University to encourage and support academically talented students to commence the MBA (Global) at Curtin University.

Human resources managers are the link between an organisation’s management and its employees. The role demands integrity, confidentiality and a high level of interpersonal skills.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN HUMAN RESOURCESIn this course you will develop a broad understanding of human resource (HR) management theories and functions. You will explore the contribution of HR management towards organisation effectiveness and efficiency.

You will also study the fundamental principles underpinning management theory and explore the associated practices in contemporary organisations. The future of management will be considered in light of poignant 21st century issues such as globalisation, corporate social responsibility and change management.

This course will also explore industrial relations in Australia, considering the roles of the parties: the tribunals, the state, unions and management.
