AWARDS AND HONORS
N/A
GENERAL STATEMENT
Before joining the Department, I worked as a registered social worker for 15 years. I have social
work experiences in hotline counselling, youth counselling, school social work, family counselling
and addicted gambling counselling. With my social work experiences, I am responsible for teaching
practice courses such as casework, group work, social work values and ethics, field laboratories and
fieldwork supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Department. Besides, I
am also a Fieldwork Coordinator to arrange field placement to students of MSSc Part-time
programme. Field placement is a crucial part in social work education.
As the Fieldwork Coordinator for the Department, I strive to provide excellent learning experience
for our students in field placement. Coordinating with my colleagues in the Fieldwork Team and
communicating with a huge team of field supervisors, my goal is to make use of my extensive
network with external agencies to match up our students with appropriate placement agencies. To
ensure the quality of the field placement, I am dedicated to conduct frequent agency visits to
identify new potential placement opportunities for our students as well as monitoring their learning
progress during their field placement.
In addition to the formal learning experience in lecture courses and field placement, I am dedicated
to provide advices for our students using my knowledge and experience in the field. I have been the
academic advisor for our Undergraduate Programme and MSSc Programme in Social Work since
2
2014, offering advices on their academic development. Apart from offering academic advices, I am
also providing counselling service to our students in handling their struggle in their university life. I
reckon that it is important to foster both the academic development and personal growth of our
students in order to train them to become a committed and competent social worker.
Regarding my experience in the field as well as my dedication to social work education, I believe
that my contribution will aid the Department in achieving its strategic goal in maintaining its
position as the leading centre in social work education in Chinese societies.

(Tutorial /group teaching)
1. The tutorial is very helpful for me to
understand the theories taught in the
class.
2. Ms. Tse is enthusiastic in helping us in
preparing for the presentation as well as
inspiring to go deeper to the topic.
However, if the presentation could be
conducted in own language would be
better for discussion.
3. Very good.
4. I dislike the assessment method of our
presentation which has separated by
individuals marks on group presentation
and group marks of paper, as I think it is
hard to see the contribution of each group
member to the presentation in that short
presentation period.
5. Can we more Cantonese, as many
cases are localize. Cantonese can
facilitate us to understand more.
6. Class size is too large and not facilitate
us to discuss and interact. The workload
is too much, not enough time to study
and prepare the exam. And, the materials
tested is too much.
7. Bad time management! Guide us
wrongly (present). Besides she refused it.
Why not tell us before the present? Bad
decision making.
8. No.

3. I like Miranda teaching as she is
professional in couselling skills and she
stimulates us to learn more.
4. Miranda leads deep sharing. However,
I think sometimes the “Quality” of
teaching cannot be balanced. Thanks
Miranda!
SOWK 5952A Integrated Social Work
Practice II
(Tutorial /group teaching – Gp A)
1. role play was good, learn a lot.
2. I like the group game which everyone
play a role in.
3. The tutorial class can break into more
group discussion, increase more
interaction and communication among
classmates instead of lecturer leading the
class participation.
4. It’s more like a lecture but not a
tutorial. The delivery format was not so
good and the students can’t involve the
practice. And there are too many students
in one tutorial group.
5. Tutorial group is too big, and there was
not enough time for us to discuss.
6. The teacher can upload the ppt early
and before the class.
SOWK 5952A Integrated Social Work
Practice II
(Tutorial /group teaching – Gp C)
1. The first 4 course are a little boring
(just like lecture, not like tutorial). Some
questions could not be answer clearly by
the teacher.
2. The content is too simple, and always
repeats those mentioned in the lectures.
This tutorial should focus on the skills
and practice, and gives us more
opportunities to practice.
3. Less lecture, more time to experience
group work first hand.
4. It would be better if there were more
group activities or model games for
students to experience.
5. I think if we for a group, we can get
more from learning.
6. It should have more role plays like the
last lesson.
SOWK 5952A Integrated Social Work
Practice II
(Tutorial /group teaching – Gp D)
1. Provide more group practice
opportunity.
2. The teacher is willing to help students
and she always prepared related materials
of the lecture. But she may a little bit use
too less materials(e.g. video, role plaay)
to demonstrate the “lesson” or “case”.
3. Teacher Miranda gives us a big space
to fulfill our capability.
4. The teacher would provide up-to-date
& practical example for us. And the
teacher demonstrates well in leading
group.
