APPENDIX - IV RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

3. From July 1990-January 1991 as S.R.F. in N.I.O., Goa.

After passing the M.Sc. Degree with Botany (Plant Physiology) in 1987, I

immediately joined for the M.Phil. Degree and worked on the aspect " Studies on

Heavy Metal Constitutents in Estuarine Water " which throw the light on the

physiological aspects of mangroves with relation to heavy metal pollution.

Subsequently in July 1988, I joined National Institute of Oceanography, Dona

Paula, Goa as Research Fellow under the project "Environmental Impact

Assessment on the Mangrove Ecosystem along the West Coast of India". I was

working there upto January 1991 under the guidance of an eminent scientist, Dr. A.

G. Untawale, Asst. Director, N.I.O., Dona Paula, Goa.

During my tenure, survey of mangrove forests along the West coast of India

and Andamans and Nicobar islands has been carried out with the help of remote

sensing techniques like Aerial photography, Satellite acquired information and

Ground truth data collection to know the present status of the total coverage of the

mangroves.

During the period, I have actively participated in the Seminars, Training

programmes etc. organized by different funding agencies.

1. Various field trips were undertaken for the Survey and Ground truth

data collection on mangrove ecosystem along the coasts of Gujarat,

Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.
