Academic and Professional Goals

To enrich the academic development of psychology and other sciences such as public

health and family medicine within a higher education institution as a faculty member and

researcher. To increase knowledge and develop research projects about issues related to

ethnic minorities’ mental and public health.

The purpose is to establish or expand community-learning centers that

provide students’ academic enrichment opportunities along with activities

designed to complement the students’ regular academic program.

My duties included: to supervise psychologists and social workers on the

implementation on evidence based interventions to students and their

families in order to improve the academic achievement.

Puerto Rico Evidence Based Board (PREBB)

The PREBB is a diverse group of stakeholders that are responsible for

developing and implementing an agenda to identify, establish, promote, and

disseminate evidence-based practices in areas of health promotion and

disease prevention. The CIES-DSC developed the first digital database of

evidence-based programs for substance abuse, cancer, HIV, cardiovascular

diseases, child maltreatment, home visiting/parenting and community

violence in Puerto Rico.

Duties included: facilitate and support PREBB meetings as well as provide

updated scientific literature and data regarding evidence based practices.
