recognition for good quality careers, information, advice and guidance. Following a
Pilot programme that started in September 2014 two of our Trust schools (Churchill

encouraging more secondary schools from North Tyneside to become ‘Careers Champions’ and are
inviting expressions of interest from any school who may wish to consider taking part.
The offer to schools is:
• Completion of a unique Level 6 qualification covering three key areas of Careers
Delivery and Design.
• A dedicated Mentor linked to the school to support the member of staff from the
school whilst completing the Inspiring Careers IAG Quality Award to stages 1, 2 and 3.
• Access to a comprehensive website with on-line resources to support the school as it
works towards becoming a ‘careers champion’.
• The first two years of the licence costs to use the Inspiring Careers branding.
The cost of the Award is approximately:
• Level 6 Award: £650
• Inspiring Careers IAG Quality Award: Stage 1 (£175); Stage 2 (£235); Stage 3 (£905)
A Trust bursary is available to cover the cost of entry and the school will need to cover a staff
member’s time to attend a minimum of 5 days of learning across a school year, to be delivered by
the Connexions Hub Training services from their central Gateshead office.

Apprenticeship Bursary
North Tyneside Learning Trust has supported employers in North Tyneside, including many Trust Schools, to create over 100 new apprenticeships for young people. The Trust covers approximately half the salary costs by providing a bursary of £3,550. Our apprentices have brought considerable value to their place of work and have worked in a broad range of occupational areas, including engineering, mechanics, business administration and ICT. All of our apprentices are aged 16-18 and have attended a Trust School. Many have already completed their apprenticeship and have remained in employment which is a fantastic achievement. The Trust has agreed funding for a further 20 apprenticeships this year, with schools prioritised as employers in the first instance.
For more information about this please contact Craig Reid on 0191 643 6407 or [email protected]
Transport for Schools
In order to support schools participating in NTLT or STEM programmes, the Trust has established a modest transport budget for NTLT Partner Schools. Match funding will be awarded for STEM or NTLT related activities on a needs basis in order to enable wider participation.
If your school needs assistance in paying for transport please follow the link below and fill out the form. Applications will be assessed on a needs basis and you will be informed within 10 working days if your application has been successful. Please see the terms, conditions and eligibility criteria

Maths Hub Network Meeting
This meeting is an opportunity for all teachers within schools in the
Northumberland, Tyne, Wear and Country Durham areas to learn
about the Great North Maths Hub, and to guide our work in the

Mathematical Reasoning across Key Stage 2 This is a fully funded training opportunity for Teachers presently working at Key Stage 2 within primary schools in Northumberland, Tyne, Wear and County Durham. The programme aims to deepen participants understanding of algebraic reasoning and its development across Key Stage 2, and appreciate how this builds on understanding from Key Stage 1, and supports transition to move to formal algebra in Key Stage 3. Key aspects for exploration in classrooms will be explored e.g. pattern and sequences, equivalence, mathematical reasoning and concrete or pictorial representations. To maximise the impact of the training, we would like schools to send two delegates to the programme, one from Upper Key Stage 2 and one from Lower Key Stage 2, however this is not essential. You will be asked to complete a pre and post programme evaluation as well as a gap task between sessions. The programme will be delivered by Pauline Braviner, Mathematics Consultant, and NCETM accredited professional development lead. The programme will be delivered over 3 sessions in two locations: Northumberland - 6 March, 25 April and 23 May 2017. All dates 9am – 12 Noon South Tyneside - 30 January; 8 March and 26 April 2017. All dates 1pm – 4pm

You will identify current strengths and opportunities for change, both at long and short term level.
