YAHOLNITSKY - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Margaret Eleanor Yaholnitsky (Hamilton) on August 12, 2015 at the age of 95. We will cherish our memories of her, particularly her sweet disposition and her loving nature. Margaret was born in Winnipeg, MB on June 25, 1920. Her parents, James Renwick Hamilton and Mary Elizabeth Hamilton (Lord) were Northern Ireland immigrants who came to Canada to settle in Winnipeg in 1910 and 1913. Having two siblings, Jack and Dorothy, Margaret was the youngest of the three children. The family moved to Yorkton in late September of 1920 where Margaret’s father became salesman auditor for the North Star Oil Company. Margaret attended Simpson School, The Yorkton Collegiate Institute and finally received her stenographic education at the Angus School of Commerce in Winnipeg. She was employed for three years as stenographer/cashier for the T. Eaton Co. and then was employed by Canadian Utilities until her marriage to Stephen Yaholnitsky in 1946. The couple spent four academic seasons in Toronto, ON where Steve attended the College of Dentistry, University of Toronto. They returned to Yorkton in 1951 where Steve worked with Dr. Wes Watchler and then set up his own practice in 1952. In 1953, during the severe polio epidemic, Margaret contracted the disease that affected her limbs. Daughter, Gwyneth Jean, age 14 months, died three weeks later. Doctors were sure that Margaret would never walk again, but she participated in an extensive physiotherapy program and was able to walk until age 94. The love of her life, Steve, passed away in 2003. Margaret attended First Baptist Church in Yorkton and was very actively involved in its activities. She loved music and sang in the church choir. She attended C. G. I. T. with Kelly McNair as leader and later became a leader. She regularly attended the Baptist Women’s missionary group and actively supported the Yorkton Arts Council. Margaret leaves to mourn her son, Stuart Yaholnitsky (Willa), children Morgan and Scott; daughter, Marcia McLean (Greg), children Brendan, Kelsea (Alexander Kielly) and Taylor; son, Bruce Yaholnitsky (Gwen), children Hannah, Kevin and Rachel. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from First Baptist Church in Yorkton, SK with Pastor Steve Rosluk officiating. The organist, Karen DeLong, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” and “Blessed Be the Tie That Binds” . Chamber Singers. Susan Brooker read the 23rd Psalm. Words of tribute and eulogy were shared by Brendan McLean, Stuart Yaholnitsky, Bruce Yaholnitsky and Marcia McLean. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Morgan Yaholnitsky, Scott Yaholnitsky, Brendan McLean, Kelsea McLean, Taylor McLean, Hannah Yaholnitsky, Kevin Yaholnitsky and Rachel Yaholnitsky serving as the casket bearers. Gwyn passed away peacefully at the Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC at 12:30pm on Monday, August 10, 2015 after a brief illness. Born on July 12, 1919 in Cuddington, Northwich, Cheshire, Gwyn moved to her beloved London, England in 1926 where she would later meet the love of her life and future husband William Alexander Patrick who was serving with the 1st Canadian Survey Regiment during WWII. Gwyn emigrated to Canada in 1945 as a war bride, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax and travelling by train to Yorkton, SK. Gwyn was a trained soprano, a pianist, an amateur thespian and a stenographer and managed to find time to follow her passions while working full time and helping to raise a handful of children on Deer Park, the family farm in Yorkton. Prior to coming to Canada, she had worked as an assistant secretary at Timothy Whites and Taylors, the Ministry of Supply, Howard Wall and the War Arts Advisory Committee and Council for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts (the precursor of the Arts Council). A highlight was the year and a half that she worked as a stenographer for the Arts Enquiry under Julian Huxley and Friedl Rothschild at Dartington Hall near Totnes, Devon. In Yorkton, she worked at Parker and Quine before landing a job as traffic manager at CJGX where she also hosted her own radio show. She was a leading member of the Crosthwaite Choir and directed and produced many plays and musical events in England and Canada. Gwyn worked for several years in Yorkton and area as a social worker, a vocation that perfectly suited her temperament. She and her husband retired to Vancouver in 1985 and a few years after Bill’s death, Gwyn moved to South Surrey where she continued to live independently, surrounded by the extended family of her loving son John and her devoted daughter-in-law and best friend Kathie. Gwyn was a voracious reader for her entire life and a wiz at crosswords. She greatly enjoyed the camaraderie of competitive bowling leagues in Yorkton and Vancouver, played a wicked game of bridge and was difficult to beat at scrabble although many of her family (children and grandchildren) tried. Gwyn was predeceased by her husband William Alexander Patrick, two infant children Christopher John Patrick and Noel Hugh Patrick, an infant brother Noel Scott Walton and her parents Herbert Walton and Sarah Jane Walton (Wasley). She leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life, “kid brother” John Walton and his wife Joyce, as well as four children, Judith Sarah Chambers (Dennis), Joanna Patrick (Vladimir), John William Patrick (Kathie) and Jill Patrick. Gwyn is lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by nephews, nieces, cousins, former in-laws and a host of friends. OSTAPOVITCH - Vera. PLAN NUMBER 2-3-754

H A N D S O M E BASEMENT ENTRY HOME

A handsome two-storey structure with a glass-fenced deck span-ning part of the facade, this three-bedroom home features nine-foot ceilings throughout the living area, as well as an unfinished basement with room for a fourth bedroom, as well as a mortgage-helper or in-law suite.

Entry is via a covered porch and veranda on the ground floor. To the left of the foyer, through French doors, is a den that is ideally located to serve as a home office. To the right is a spacious coat closet; while direct-ly ahead is an L-shaped

staircase to the upper floor.

The main/upper floor includes a large great room that overlooks the front garden. With a gas fireplace and sliding doors that open to the covered deck, this room is open to the dining area and the kitchen.

The optional buffet in the dining area will pro-vide serving and storage space, and the kitchen features an L-shaped counter configuration for step-saving efficiency. An angled prep island with a four-seat eating bar separates the kitchen from the rest of the living area.

Adjacent to the walk-in pantry, access to a covered patio at the back of the home offers an opportunity for year-

round grilling and al fresco dining during the summer months. The laundry room is conve-niently located nearby.

In the sleeping wing, the master bedroom overlooks the front garden and includes a walk-in closet with a small window. Natural light will also illuminate the four-piece en-suite, which boasts a soaker tub with its own window.

The second and third bedrooms share a three-piece bathroom. A linen closet is situated out-side the third bedroom, across from the railing protecting the stairwell, part of which is open to the foyer below.

The basement/ground floor has been thought-fully planned to allow space for a possible

fourth bedroom, as well as a secondary suite. A laundry area and three-piece bath are roughed in, as well as a spacious kitchen.

The two-vehicle garage includes a side entrance, as well as entry to the foyer.

On the exterior, qua-druple wooden pilas-ters with brick bases mark the entrance, with another single pilaster at the end of the veranda. Similar pilasters set off the second-floor balcony. Horizontal siding con-trasts with the vertical woodwork on the garage doors. Wood shingles and decorative woodwork ornament the gables.

This home measures 46 feet wide by 44 feet deep, for a total of 1,460 square feet of living space, not including the basement.

Plans for design 2-3-754 are available for $625 (set of 5), $710(set of 8) and $778 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges.

Our NEW 47TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is avail-able for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and han-dling). Make all cheque and money orders pay-able to “JENISH HOUSE DESIGN LTD” and mail to:
