Kiva
A non-profit organization with a mission to con-nect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world. ILSC specifically donates to help students get an education. www.kiva.org
World Bicycle Relief
Simple, sustainable bicycle transportation mul-tiplies an individual's efficiency. Compared to walking, bikes improve access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity. They in-crease carrying capacity and accessible travel distance while decreasing the time it takes to commute to schools, clinics and markets. www.worldbicyclerelief.org
Learn to Earn ILSC’s in house charity that provides funding to ed-ucate women in India who have no access to edu-cation. [email protected]
Donations When an activity is “by donation’, the money you pay will go directly to one of the charities ILSC Vancouver supports (see Chari-ties). For Hikes we recommend a minimum of $1 and for Classes we suggest $2. Donations in the past year have purchased 15 bicycles for students in Africa through World Bicycle Relief, offered over 70 Education loans through Kiva.org, and have paid for school for 2 girls through Learn to Earn. Students Helping Students is our Mis-sion. Thank you for all your support of your fellow students.
Refunds Are only given in the case of an emergency where the student can show proof of a doctors visit or a plane ticket to leave the country. Full refunds may still not be possible. In the event of an Activity Cancellation you must bring your receipt back to the Activities Department to get your refund.
Receipts Please keep the receipt we gave you as proof of your payment. It also tells you the meeting time and location and what to bring on the activity. It is required in the event an activity is refunded.
Event tickets Odd numbers or large groups of tickets not purchased together, will usually not be able to sit together. Please ask before you buy tickets if you have a special request,. We will do our best to try and seat you and your friends together, but please communicate your needs to us before you buy your tickets.
