Bear River District 2016 Action Plan for Regional Consolidated Plan

UTD009081357 The Director of the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control is seeking public comment on an application from ATK Launch Systems, Promontory to renew its Hazardous Waste Storage and Treat-ment Permit. The permit applica-tion has been reviewed by Division staff and a draft permit has been prepared. The primary manufacturing op-erations at ATK Launch Systems include the production and testing of solid rocket motor propellant and the assembly of motor com-ponents and segments. The Permit directs the management of hazard-ous waste storage and treatment operations at the Promontory facil-ity. Hazardous waste, as defined by R315-261 of the Utah Administra-tive Code, is generated and stored at the facility in containers prior to being shipped off-site for treatment and/or disposal. Reactive hazard-ous waste is treated on-site at the facility by open burning, open det-onation or oxidizer leaching. The Permit also includes requirements for closure of waste management facilities and financial assurance. The public comment period on the draft permit will begin on July 26, 2019 and end on September 9, 2019.
