Sports’ coaching is central to developing, sustaining and increasing participation in sport. It drives better performances and increased success as well as supporting key social and economic objectives thought the UK. At all levels of society, coaches guide improvement in technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle skills, contributing to personal and social development (The UK Coaching Framework 2008) Across Wiltshire & Swindon there are well qualified and experienced coaches working at different levels and across a wide range of sports. Organisations including local authorities, school sport partnerships and national governing bodies of sport have for many years been investing into coach education and development through local programmes and national initiatives. All recognise that there is much more that could be achieved and a need to work together towards a common vision. During 2010 these and other partners came together to establish a Countywide Coaching System Support Network (CSSN) and signed up to a locally agreed vision and an overarching aim of becoming a leading county for coaching. Our vision: ‘To ensure the right coach, is in the right place at the right time’ CSSN Partners currently include: Wiltshire & Swindon Activity & Sports Partnership Wiltshire Council Swindon Borough Council Active Trowbridge Wiltshire Alternative Youth Sports Swindon Sports Forum Badminton England Further Education Colleges Wiltshire Partnership Development Manager Wiltshire Coach Manager Sports Coach UK Wiltshire & Swindon CSSN
