January 2010

Dear Fellow New Yorker:

New York State is broken and needs to be fixed. Our state capital has become mired in dysfunction andcorruption. Rising property taxes are forcing people to leave New York. Families are struggling to make endsmeet as businesses relocate out of state and take thousands of jobs with them. It is time for a change.

We need leaders who will reform Albany and breathe new life into New York. People who can extricate the statefrom the financial crisis that has befallen us. People who will save taxpayer dollars by streamlining governmentand making it more efficient. People who will ameliorate the crushing property tax burden that we face. Peoplewho will champion open and honest government and make it more accessible and accountable to the public.

For the past nine years, I have been the Supervisor of the Town of Ramapo in Rockland County, which, with120,000 residents, is the most populous town in the state outside of Long Island. Prior to that, I served two termsin the Rockland County Legislature. I am proud of my efforts to make my Town, County, and State a better placeto live and raise a family.

I have a vision for New York that you can believe in. I believe we must concentrate on shining a spotlighton all the good that this state has to offer. We need to celebrate New York and focus on guiding this greatstate into the future. We must work together to strengthen our finances, lower our taxes, and protect ourquality of life.

• We have to restore New Yorkers’ faith in state government and bring them the results and changes thatthey crave.

• We must focus on implementing economic development initiatives that will help solidify our state’sfinancial framework and bring new jobs to New York State.

• We need to take steps to bolster the many small businesses throughout New York that are the lifeblood of our state.

• With a turbulent economic climate and a cloudy financial future, we have to ensure that New York families will be able to successfully weather the economic storm.

Over the next several months, I will be traveling throughout the state and meeting with elected officials, partyleaders, senior citizens, and working men and women to discuss the challenges and issues facing them. NewYorkers need strong, independent, and experienced leaders, and I look forward to meeting with people fromBuffalo to Brooklyn and Syracuse to Schenectady to discuss my vision for the Empire State and talk about howwe can renew the promise of New York. Together, we can blaze a trail to a brighter future and a better state.

Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] or visit www.chrisstlawrence.com. I am interestedin hearing your ideas for a better New York, and I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about myvision for the Empire State.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,

Christopher P. St. Lawrence
