The position is for full- time employment at the Center for Sustainable Development in South Eleuthera, The Bahamas. The successful candidates will work as part of a design/build team that is responsible for the design, implementation, and educational aspects of sustainable initiatives for the organization. Working for the CSD means working in collaboration with your colleagues and external partners. It is expected that you'll lend your experience and enthusiasm to the team, as we work together on each other’s projects. Responsibilities Manage permaculture initiatives on our 17-acre campus, including pigs, goats, chickens and ducks Manage a crew of two full-time employees and intern(s). Develop and deliver and the Sustainable Development curriculum raging from the Island School Human Ecology course to college level curriculum. Design landscapes to increase food abundance and build upon natural synergies. Produce research, and make presentations related to Permaculture activities. Work with the Sustainability team in delivering on internal projects. Develop and deliver apprenticeship training programs. Promote and develop local business connections and partnerships that lead to growth of sustainable industries on Eleuthera. Collaborate and partner with worldwide institutions, organizations, businesses, and associations related to Sustainable Development that promote similar sustainability activities and perspectives. Qualifications Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Every member of the team is an educator and a spokesperson for the Center. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Sustainability Teacher – Permaculture

• Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated practical experience of equal value in permaculture, environmental science, horticulture, hydroponic growing, aquaculture, animal husbandry, botany or landscape design.

• Knowledge of animal husbandry, plant life cycles, grafting, propagation, • Certificate in Permaculture Design preferred. • Ability to live in a small, remote location, work and live in an intentional community. • Professional demeanor and desire to work on an ecological friendly campus. • Wilderness medical training is preferred (WFR, WAFA, etc.) • Ability to live without regular access to “city life,” shopping, entertainment, and other

comforts.
