CSAE 2014 Associations Make A Better Canada Awards (Executive & Business Member Organizations) Purpose The Associations Make A Better Canada Awards recognize CSAE member organizations that have initiated innovative projects resulting in positive outcomes in the areas of public education/information, public affairs/government relations, professional development and education, and ethical, technical or professional standards. One award is given in each of the four categories for programs that have demonstrated successful results within the previous 12 months (May 1, 2013 – April 30, 2014). Public Information/Education Organization has created and distributed valuable information to policymakers, regulators, or the news media that enhanced public understanding about the efficiency, quality and safety of products and services. The initiative likely strengthened consumer confidence in the marketplace and/or may have improved government and/or public support for your organization and its members. Public Affairs/Government Relations Organization has undertaken a key initiative on a single government affairs issue where activities have resulted in a positive outcome. The issue may have been of short-term duration or crisis-oriented and encompassed a government lobbying/awareness campaign. Professional Development and Education Organization has developed and disseminated best-practice information among members to support the application of new skills and the development of a competitive and skilled workforce. CSAE 2014 Associations Make A Better Canada Awards(Executive & Business Member Organizations)

Purpose

The Associations Make A Better Canada Awards recognize CSAE member organizations that have initiated innovative projects resulting in positive outcomes in the areas of public education/information, public affairs/government relations, professional development and education, and ethical, technical or professional standards. One award is given in each of the four categories for programs that have demonstrated successful results within the previous 12 months (May 1, 2013 – April 30, 2014).

Public Information/Education

Organization has created and distributed valuable information to policymakers, regulators, or the news media that enhanced public understanding about the efficiency, quality and safety of products and services. The initiative likely strengthened consumer confidence in the marketplace and/or may have improved government and/or public support for your organization and its members.

Public Affairs/Government Relations

Organization has undertaken a key initiative on a single government affairs issue where activities have resulted in a positive outcome. The issue may have been of short-term duration or crisis-oriented and encompassed a government lobbying/awareness campaign.

Professional Development and Education

Organization has developed and disseminated best-practice information among members to support the application of new skills and the development of a competitive and skilled workforce.

Ethical, Technical or Professional Standards

Organization has developed and implemented significant guidance documents, training programs and efforts to build commitment to raising the standards of your industry or profession for the sake of those served. Evaluations of the outcomes arising from these efforts are also eligible.

Criteria

Awards are presented for programs that have demonstrated successful results within the previous 12 months (May 1, 2013 – April 30, 2014)

Programs may be community-based, provincial, national or international, but must originate within Canada.

Programs may have been implemented over a period of years, though results of the program should have been demonstrated within the twelve month period described above.

Awards determined for programs that have:•displayed uniqueness and/or innovation during their planning and implementation•met stated objectives in support of the organization’s goals/mission•resulted in significant positive impacts (benefits) to members and/or society•encouraged member and volunteer involvement•the ability to be replicated by other organizations

Eligibility

Open to all CSAE (Executive and Business) member organizations. One entry per category. No restrictions apply to the number of categories entered.

The individual submitting the entry (or entries) on behalf of the organization must be a CSAE member

Organizations may submit multiple entries but only one entry per category

Validation

Submission must include: Application form Reports, brochures and other materials describing the program may be included as

attachments A summary (500 words or less) Judges will consider only the descriptions and

attachments provided. It is important to provide information as completely – and as concisely – as possible

Submissions should answer the following questions: o •When and why was this initiative undertaken?o •What were its goals and objectives?o •How did they relate to the goals/mission of the organization?o •How were they met?o •What were the measurable outcomes of the initiative and its benefits to

members and/or society?

Selection

The confidential selection process is conducted by independent CSAE volunteers and their decision is final.
