The Crush secured their second largest margin of victory in franchise history last week in a 63-28 win over Central Diuvision rival Grand Rapids. After putting a challenge to his defensive line, as- sistant coach Tony Federico was pleased with his defensive line’s five sack effort against the Rampage. The five sacks tied for the most in franchise history for a single game and DL Aaron McConnell set a team game- high record with three of those sacks against Grand Rapids. McConnell is just one sack shy of tying former DL Dustin Barno for most sacks in a season with 6.0. This week the Crush travel to Utah to take on the 1-9 Blaze in Salt Lake City. DAY IN DAY OUTMIKE DAILEY, Colorado (112-78, 12th Year): Dailey enters his fifth season in Colorado and 12th as a head coach in the AFL ... He became the Crush’s second head coach on June 26, 2003 ... Dailey joined the Crush fol-lowing 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach ... One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey’s teams have compiled an overall re-cord of 112-78 record, a winning percentage of 58.7% ... His teams have also made nine postseason appearanc-es and he has won five division titles and two ArenaBowl championships ... Following the Crush’s 44-40 victory over Kansas City on March 10, 2007, Dailey became only the fourth head coach in AFL history to surpass the 100 win mark ... He currently stands as the league’s fifth all-time winningest coach.

In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, in-heriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004 ... The Crush tied for third in the league for most wins over the last four years since Dailey’s arrival.

AFL CONSECUTIVE GAME STREAK

FILLING THE SHOES NICELYWide receiver Ben Nelson was named the AFL Offensive Player of the Week for Week 6 after his 13 catch, 174 yard, 5 touchdown performance against the Los Angeles Avengers on April 4. It was the first time a Crush player was named Offensive Player of the Week this season and it is the second time in Nelson’s career he has received the honor. Through eight games of this season before Nelson was injured, he had 72 catches for 760 yards and 18 touchdowns, surpassing the number of catches, yards and touchdowns of former Crush receiver Damien Harrell had through eight games last season when Harrell caught 62 balls for 718 yards and 20 touch-downs. Nelson also sat out the entire game last week against Grand Rapids with an injury and did not record a reception. LOCAL TIES

RECEIVING OPTIONSThe Crush receiving corps have posted solid numbers so far this season and Brad Pyatt, Willie Quinnie, and Ben Nelson have all set or tied individual or team records this season. Pyatt moved into 4th All-time in Crush history with 31 career touchdown catches with his 12 touchdowns so far this season. He is jocking for position with Quinnie in many categories including TD receptions. Quinnie has 31 career touchdowns and is tied in 4th place all-time through week ten. Pyatt is just nine receptions, and 17 yards shy of moving into sole possession of 3rd place in those categories in the Crush record book. Nelson surpassed the 60 career touchdown plateau in just his third AFL season with his 18 touchdown catches this season.

AGAINST THE BLAZE - SERIES HISTORY

SALT LAKE CITY – The Colorado Crush dropped consecutive games for the first time this season falling to the Utah Blaze 51-14 Monday night. With the loss, Colorado misses an opportunity for a second straight week to clinch a playoff berth. Utah used a 37-point run to take control of the game and never look back. Both AFL and Colorado records were broken during the game. With seven tackles, Crush DB Rashad Floyd set a new League mark for most single-season tackles with 142.0. Also, Colorado WR Damian Harrell’s AFL record streak of 78 games with a touchdown came to a halt. Colorado’s 14 point output also established a new team record low for points in a game breaking the 21 points they scored vs. Columbus on March 25, 2006. Utah QB Joe Germaine threw five touchdowns on 20-of-32 passes for just 164 yards with one interception. Blaze WR Siaha Burley registered three receiving touchdowns on seven receptions with 56 yards. For Colorado, WR Willie Quinnie hauled in a game-high 10 catches for 97 yards and recorded the Crush only two scores of the night. Colorado would take a short lived lead scoring the game’s first points when QB John Dutton hit Quinnie on a 7-yard pass to give the Crush an early lead 7-0. Utah responded scoring the contest’s next 37-points over the next nearly three quarters. Germaine would tie the score at seven apiece on a one-yard and then complete touchdown strikes to Burley and J’Sharlo Jones of 11 and one-yard respectively to build a 21-7 Utah lead. Blaze K Steve Videtich would add a 20-yard field and Germaine another touchdown pass this time to WR Tom Pace to give Utah a 31-7 advantage at the break. The Blaze defense held the Crush offense scoreless over their final three possessions in the first half on an interception, a four-and-out and a missed field goal. Utah would also take advantage of a kickoff net recovery to set up one score. The seven first half points scored by Colorado tied a club record for least points in a half (three times- last vs. Columbus 3/25/06). Colorado’s defense came out to start the second half strong holding Utah to just six points in the third quarter on 22 and 26-yard field goals by Videtich. However, the Crush offense continued to struggle with an interception and a fumble walking away from the period with zero points and down 37-7. The Crush finally broke their scoring draught when Quinnie pulled in a 2-yard touchdown with 12:31 remaining in the game to bring the score to 37-14. Colorado would turn the ball over twice more on an WR Alonzo Nix fumble and Dutton fourth interception of the game. Burley added two more receiving touchdowns, the final one coming with 1:23 on the clock, to give Utah the 37-point victory.

JUST LIKE KYLEWhile teammate OL Kyle Moore-Brown continues his AFL record for consecutive games played, QB John Dutton has strung together an impressive streak of his own. Since the 2004 season, Dutton along with San Jose QB Mark Grieb have started the most consecutive regular season games under center in the AFL.

Last season the Crush secondary made a huge impact in the team’s overall success and the same can be said so far this season. The Colorado defense set a new club single-season record for interceptions with 20 last year, which ranked tied for fifth in the AFL. DB Rashad Floyd hauled in nine picks, which ranked tied for third in the AFL (the team’s individual single-season record is 10-Floyd in 2006). Floyd hauled in his fifth and sixth interceptions of the season against Cleveland and currently sits third in the AFL after eight games played.

Last season FB/LB Robert Thomas made a huge impact in the Crush ground attack. Against the Chicago Rush (6/18/07), Thomas set a new single-season rushing touchdown mark with nine on the season. Thomas also moved in front of John Dutton and Rich Young for sole possession of second all-time in Colorado career rushing scores. Against L.A. he got his third of the season (12th career) from two-yards out in the first quarter and is only seven back of the all-time mark set by new Cleveland Gladiator Willis Marshall in his three seasons in Colorado.

CENTURY CLUBCrush head coach Mike Dailey, now coaching in his 12th AFL season, has compiled a regular-season record of 101-72, which ranks fifith among active head coaches. Colorado Crush Head Coach Mike Dailey reached the century mark for regular season wins with the Crush’s victory over the Los Angeles Avengers on April 4. After the century win, Dailey was presented with a jersey with the No. 100 and his name on the back by offensive lineman Kyle Moore-Brown and the rest of the players and coaching staff. It was the second such Jersey Dai-ley has received; he was given one last season as well after reaching the 100 win mark for overall wins, which includes playoff victories as well. Dailey’s overall record as a head coach is now 110-78.

TACKLE HAPPYFor the third time in the last four seasons, DB Rashad Floyd yet again broke his own AFL single-season record for tackles in 2007. Floyd lead the AFL with 156.0 tackles last season (43.0 tackles ahead of the second place player Arizona’s Keyuo Craver) and was just shy of averaging 10 tackles per game. Against New Orleans, (3/30) Floyd recorded a seson high 11.5 tackles and activley moved into third place All-Time in total tackles.

* After being released by Orlando at the midway of the point of the season, Mason joined Grand Rapids for the team’s final nine games. Mason missed both teams’ bye week, therefore, he played in 17 games. Typically, regular season statistics are based on a 16-game season.

The 2008 season marks White’s 16th year as an Arena Football League head coach. White joined the

Blaze in 2006 for their inaugural season where he coached the team to a 7-9 regular-season record. The Blaze also qualified for the postseason in just their first year. In 2007, he led the Blaze to an 8-8 season and again qualified for the postseason. White now boasts an AFL overall coaching record of 156-84 and a postseason record of 20-12. White, who is a mem-ber of four Halls of Fame (Arizona Sports, Arizona State, College Football and Arena Football), is second in all-time wins. White, a living legend of football in Arizona, served as the first head coach and general manager of the Rattlers until 2004. He was named Arena Football League Coach of the Year in only his second season as head coach (1993). In 13 seasons, White led the Rattlers to ArenaBowl berths in 1994, 1997, 2002, 2003 and 2004, emerging as the ArenaBowl Champi-ons in 1994 and 1997. White finished his career with the Rattlers with an overall record of 141-65 (.684) ranking him No. 2 all-time in Arena Football history. He became an inductee for the Arena Football Hall of Fame class of 2002. One of the finest motivators of the game, White’s style has proven to be successful. White began his playing days at Mesa’s Westwood High, his collegiate career at Arizona State, and on through his profes-sional career first with the Memphis Southmen of the World Football League, and then in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. Those fans of White know his intense desire for excellence. They also know that if Danny White was anything, he was a winner. Throughout his career as a player, White set seven NCAA passing records. In 1973, his passing and run-ning game placed him second in the nation in total offense (387-721). Sports Illustrated named White as the second-best rated collegiate quarterback of all-time, behind only Steve Young. The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame honored White in 1997 as an inductee into the College Hall of Fame. In addition to the AFL Hall of Fame and the NCAA Hall of Fame, White has been inducted into the State of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame and the Arizona State University Hall of Fame where his jersey number (11) was retired. White was also named Arizona Ath-lete of the Century in 2000 by the Arizona Republic.
