Hola, everyone. I'm in the middle of a very southern

summer as we approach the end of Chile. I heard that

our Quilt Show went very well. Congratulations Kathy

for a job well done. Congratulations to all the

members who participated by doing the jobs as well

as entering quilts. As of my last count I believe there

were about 260 quilts? What a beautiful show it must

have been! I promised to think about the show while

on our trip and I did just that.

Before the show we were in Peru where we saw and

climbed Machu Picchu. I have to admit that it is a

wonderful experience, and I'm thinking that perhaps a

wall quilt must be made of that wonder. It is one of the

seven wonders of the modern world. Chile is just like

our west coast. As we get more south, it is looking

more and more like Alaska. Central Chile looks just

like California during the summer. It is summer down

here.

Back to reality I am looking forward to seeing the

Celebration of Quilts when we return. I am so proud of

having been part of the show before hand.

From Our Vice Presidents

By now, hopefully everyone is rejuvenated after another successful CCQ Quilt

Show! Big applause of appreciation to Kathy Sandner for chairing and Liz Carota

for co-chairing as well as everyone else who helped make it such a success! We

are all looking forward to the February program meeting where the winning quilts

will be displayed and ribbons awarded.

In March, we will have Robyn from Hoffman Fabrics presenting. Patt Blair will be

our April program speaker and workshop instructor on painting on fabric with inks.

Her website is www.pattsart.com. Anelie Belden will be giving a Saturday

workshop in May on her Dresden patterns. We have a special program meeting

planned in May on the history and the celebration of our guild. In June, our very

own Paddy Shopher will be facilitating two Saturday workshops on a wonderfully

pieced pattern. The program meeting in June will feature one of own members and

her quilt journey. Sign-up sheets and more info to come.

Business Meeting Minutes February 26, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Vice-President Penni Barger in the absence of President Ursula Sylvan

Membership Chair Cheryl Hall announced that there were 66 members present, three guests and one new member.

Announcements:

Names were drawn for two free passes to “Road to California.”

There is a class on February 13 at the Meissner Sewing Center on fitting pants. Information is available from Cheryl Hall.

NCQC meeting is January 21; the theme is “Helping Others.”

Refreshments are needed for January and February.

New Officers - Nominating Committee reported a full slate, and all nominees were introduced. Voting will take place at the February Program Meeting. At that time nominations may be made from the floor, only if permission of the nominee has been granted.

Dues Vote - Delores Miller, on behalf of some of the Board, moved that dues be increased from

$20 to $25. In addition, those who want to receive printed newsletters in the mail should pay an extra $8. The motion was seconded by Kathy Sandner. Discussion topics covered the dwindling savings account, the higher price of speakers, higher cost of Quilt Show. It was also suggested that this matter should be taken up at a Business Meeting and become a part of the Budget Process. Marilee Heaston moved to table the motion, seconded by Sue Siefkin. The motion to table carried.

Quilt Show - There will be 243 quilts, including three Challenges, and 27 Vendors. All Committee Chairs reported on progress, needs, and details. Ribbon winners will be notified immediately, but details will not be revealed until “Celebration of Quilts” night on February 10.

fabulous. To see some of them again be sure and attend the

Celebration of Quilts at the February 10 Program meeting,

where ribbons will be awarded.

Thanks!
