Rules of Thumb
• CLT design has the ‘feel’ of concrete
• Floor span-to-depth ratios 20-30
• Roof span-to-depth ratios 30-40
• Deflection and vibration control design(not strength)
• Engineers must consider creep and rolling shear
• Effective stiffness increases for longer spans
