GOLF BALL FITTING BENEFITS EVERY
PLAYER
The golf ball is the only piece of
equipment you use on every shot.
Yet, many players are unaware of
the importance of playing a golf
ball that is fit for their game.
There are many game-changing
performance and quality differences
between golf ball brands and their
various models, especially on shots
into and around the green. These
differences help golfers of all ages
and abilities play their best and
shoot lower scores.
When you use a Titleist golf ball that
is properly fit to your game, and
play the same model every round,
it places you on the path to a more
consistent game and lower scores.
THE “SCORING SHOTS”
The key to playing your best and
lowering your score is improving
your performance on what we call
the “scoring shots.” These consist
of your approach shots, pitches,
and chips.
All Titleist golf balls are designed
to provide exceptional distance
off the tee, with all of our models
measuring within 4-6 yards of each
other. While driver distance is
important, golfers typically hit only
14 drives per round, and therefore
gaining a few extra yards off the
tee is not game-changing.
We prioritize fitting players into
golf balls that will optimize their
performance on the scoring shots.
Pros and amateurs alike shoot lower
scores when they save shots into
and around the green.
T H E PAT H T OL O W E R S C O R E S
On the scoring shots, the difference in spin rate between models is significant and game-changing. When tested, the difference in spin rate can be greater than 1500 RPMs between models, with Pro V1 and Pro V1x providing the best spin on the scoring shots for all golfers.
SHORT GAME SPINSHORT GAME SPIN
Off the tee, all Titleist golf balls offer low spin, and when tested with a driver there is less than a 500 RPM difference between all models.

DRIVER SPIN
THE IMPORTANCE OF SPIN
Every shot you hit imparts spin
on the golf ball. On longer shots
– with your driver, fairway metals,
and hybrids – golfers want lower
spin as it contributes to longer,
straighter shots.
On the scoring shots, golfers need
more spin to provide increased
stopping power and greater overall
control. Playing a golf ball that
provides more short game spin
allows you to hit shots closer to the
hole more frequently, ultimately
leading to lower scores.

One key to shooting lower scores
is to make more putts. Playing a
golf ball that provides more spin
and improved performance in the
short game can make it easier
to hit shots closer to your target,
leaving you with consistently shorter
putts. The percentages speak for
themselves: shorter putts are holed
far more often at every skill level.

Golf balls that are marketed for
“amateur swing speeds” don’t
deliver on their promise of more
distance. Pro V1 and Pro V1x
deliver distance that is as long
or longer than competitive golf
balls positioned for amateurs.
THE ROLE OF COMPRESSION
Some golfers tell us they don’t
compress the ball enough to play
a Pro V1 or Pro V1x. This simply
isn’t true. There is no performance
benefit associated with choosing
a ball with a specific compression
to match your swing speed.
Compression is solely a test of
the relative softness of a golf
ball, and a golfer that has a “feel”
preference for a softer ball may
prefer a lower compression ball.
Pro V1 and Pro V1x deliver exceptional distance, superior short game performance, and extraordinary feel characteristics for every golfer, at every swing speed, and on every type of shot.

DIFFERENT SPEEDS.
UNDERSTANDING SWING SPEED
Many golfers are mistakenly led
to believe they should be fit for
a golf ball based solely on their
driver swing speed. This is a
flawed approach.
YOU HAVE MANY SWING SPEEDS
When we ask golfers what their
swing speed is, they typically
tell us their driver swing speed.
The truth is, every golfer has
many different swing speeds,
not just one. Golfers utilize a
wide range of swing speeds to
execute the vast array of shots
that are required in every round,
and the golf ball must perform
with every club, at every speed,
on every shot.
E V E R Y S H O T C O U N T S
Most golfers will only hit their
driver 14 times in a round. The
majority of shots played by every
golfer are shots into and around
the green. Concentrating on
driver speed alone deprives a
golfer of the opportunity to be
fit for a ball that provides total
performance on every shot.

GAME ASSESSMENT
AND GOLF BALL SELECTION
STEP 1
Titleist golf ball fitting begins
with looking at your performance
objectives and personal preferences.
There are three easy ways for you
to accomplish this first step:
› Attend a regional Titleist mobile
golf ball fitting event.
› Have a conversation about Titleist
golf ball fitting with your local
golf professional.
› Use our online selection tool at:
www.titleist.com/ballfitting.
At the conclusion of Step 1, you’ll
be provided with a recommended
and alternative Titleist golf ball
to use as you begin Step 2: On
Course Evaluation.
GREEN-TO-TEE ON COURSE EVALUATION
STEP 2
The Titleist Green-to-Tee fitting
process involves an evaluation of
all shots on the golf course, with
the greatest emphasis placed on
shots into and around the green.
These account for the majority of
shots in your round. The golf ball
that performs best on these shots
is your key to lower scores.
SIDE-BY-SIDE COMPARISON
› Take the recommended and
alternative golf balls (and the golf
ball you played most often prior
to being fit) to the golf course.
Evaluate their performance side-
by-side for all of the described
shots using the Evaluation
Scorecard, which can be found
at the end of this brochure.
Evaluating the golf balls side-by-
side is the best way to experience
the performance differences
between models.
SHORT GAME EVALUATION
› Begin by evaluating the golf
balls around the green by hitting
several chips, pitches, and bunker
shots. Note each ball’s control,
trajectory, and spin on these
important shots.
WEDGE AND SHORT IRON EVALUATION
› Next, hit some partial wedge, full
wedge, and short iron approach
shots, evaluating the golf balls on
these shots using the same criteria.
LONG GAME EVALUATION
› Then, hit several long irons,
hybrids, and fairway metals. Assess
your control and consistency on
these shots, i.e., your ability to
hold the green.
DRIVER EVALUATION
› Final ly, hit your driver to
determine which ball performs
the best from the tee.
SCORECARD REVIEW
› Review your scorecard to
determine which golf ball is the
best fit for your game.
PUTTING YOUR NEW BALL
IN PLAY
STEP 3
CONSISTENCY MATTERS
Now you’re ready to experience
how your newly fit ball performs
under fire. While the improved
performance will be clear, it gets
even better and here’s why: Trust.
As you experience the same
high level of performance and
consistency, shot after shot, your
confidence grows. You are able to
trust that when you hit a shot well,
your Titleist golf ball will react just
the way you want and expect it to,
every time.
With the knowledge that you are
now playing the best ball for your
game, commit to playing that ball
exclusively. Using the same model
golf ball on every shot of every
round eliminates performance
variation, builds confidence and
consistency, and ultimately results
in you shooting lower scores.
GAME-CHANGING PERFORMANCE,
PERSONAL PREFERENCE
Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x provide
total performance to golfers of
every skill level. If you prioritize
total performance, we recommend
Pro V1 and Pro V1x.
Some golfers ask us, “Then, why are
there other golf balls in the Titleist
product line?” While all golfers
want performance, individual
“preferences” can play a role in
determining your final selection.
Feel, color, appearance (play
numbers or markings), durability,
and price are all examples of
various player preferences.
If preference factors into your
selection process, NXT Tour,
NXT Tour S, Velocity, and
DT TruSoft are Titleist golf balls
designed specifically to meet
the complete range of players’
personal preferences.
