This is what Fruity Loops looks like when first opened. The list on the left hand side is in fact a library of sounds that can be dragged and dropped into the rectangle in the centre that is currently home to a default kick, clap, hat and snare.

This is what Fruity Loops looks like after I have selected all of the sounds I wish to use from the sound library.

The circled area shows the tempo of the track. The tempo can be adjusted, and is very important in terms of establishing a mood when creating music. An emotional piece of music is often quite slow. However, this is not always the case. As you can see, this piece has quite a fast tempo.

This shows the melody that I created for the piano in this instrumental. Each green bar represents a note; the length of the note is representative of the amount of time that it is sustained for. The notes that can be heard are displayed along the left hand side on a keyboard/piano type of set-up.

Drawing notes to create melodies like this is done in a part of the program known as the Piano Roll. This can be done with bass sounds, and even drum beats.

Here, I have sequenced all my patterns in order to create the final track.

Having sequenced the track, I can then export it as either wav or mp3 file. I have selected mp3.
