Transforming dump sites, an environmental bane to an economic and environmental boon is the raison d’etre of our business. The critical goal of landfill remediation is to protect human health and the environment by eliminating airborne vectors, contamination of land and water, air pollution and a host of other problems caused by open dumping. The ultimate aim is to return land back to the community in a form that will benefit the environment and the community.

As an environmental technology and engineering specialist, Cypark combines technologies and engineering proficiency, with high-end research and development, to develop systems specifically for restoring brownfields like the Contaminated Land Assessment Remediation and Information System (COLARIS), Sustainable Environmental Restoration (SER) and Groundwater Assessment Remediation and Information System (GARIS).

We have taken our business a step further by venturing into the renewable energy sector. We have transformed the restored landfill in Pajam, Negeri Sembilan into an integrated renewable energy park, an Entry Point Project under the nation’s Economic Transformation Programme. Such a project unlocks the economic potential of landfills, employing landfill by-products like biomass and biogas as well as sunlight to create renewable energy, which will undoubtedly help meet the country’s growing demand for energy.

Leveraging the synergy from restoring landfills to the creation of renewal energy has placed Cypark at the forefront of sustainable development and green energy generation. We are proud to note that the Pajam Solar Park has been awarded by the Malaysian Book of Records as the largest grid connected solar park in Malaysia.

COLARIS

An internally developed comprehensive remediation and treatment system that provides assessment and remediation service related to contaminations that arise from mining, industrial, as well as landfill and dumpsite activities. It can be divided into two components: -

s Contaminated Land Site Assessment

Conducted to determine the condition of the site and its surroundings before any remediation activities can be designed and implemented, this process involves preliminary assessment as well protrusive assessment which requires development of monitoring wells, soil investigations, monitoring works, lab test and so forth.

s Remediation

Cypark’s remediation services could be divided into three components

o on-site remediation (in situ zone remediation, containment, protection, pathway prediction and fate of offsite receptors)

o off-site remediation (zone remediation, containment and protection)

o special collection and disposal services (on-site and off-site soil treatment).

Environmental Remediation

Environmental remediation is a complex, scientific, engineering rehabilitation process that not only brings about environmental but also economic transformation. Through our extensive environmental engineering expertise and experience, coupled with a broad spectrum of innovative technologies, degraded contaminated areas such as unsightly and hazardous dump sites would be restored and transformed into green lungs with economic and social value.

Environmental Management & Monitoring Services

Once a contaminated land or environmental facility project has been completed, the site must undergo systematic management and monitoring. Environmental management is a key process requirement to ensure that completed works are maintained and not damaged either by external elements or due to natural occurrences such as land settlement. Continuous periodic monitoring of water, air and soil quality within or surrounding the project boundary of a project is essential. Information collected over a period of time, through Cypark’s environmental management and monitoring services could be used to assess the trends of contamination levels and alert relevant parties.

Integrated Waste Management(incorporating Waste-to-Energy plant)

Environmentally unfriendly waste management practices have been attributed globally as one of the major causes of pollution. Urbanisation and population growth have made proper waste management to be very critical to ensure the sustainability of our environment.

Cypark has the experience, expertise and resources to facilitate government initiatives in implementing sustainable integrated waste management facility that encompasses the following areas:-

o Transfer Station

o Collection and Disposal

o Waste Receiving Facility (WRF)

o Waste Segregation Facility (WSF) with material recovery/recycling facility

o Fuel Derivation Facility which includes Fully Anaerobic Bioreactor System (FABIOS) Plant and Refused-Derived Fuel (RDF)Plant

ENVIRONMENTAL TRANSFORMATION

Developed to support landfill owners manage the leachate associated with landfill and dumpsites, Cypark’s Leachate Treatment Plant (LTP) can be divided into two

o On-site Leachate Treatment Plant

A large scale comprehensive leachate management system designed and developed as a long term solution for either a new sanitary or a closed landfill.

o Mobile Leachate Treatment Plant (MLTP).

Typically used in cases where site size is restricted and the volume of leachate is not large, this facility allows leachate treatment process to continue to be part of an integral component of any waste management facility. MLTP could also be deployed as an emergency response treatment system, for both planned or unplanned plant shutdown.

Ground Water Assessment, Remediation, And Information System (GARIS)

An in-house developed process in which detailed assessment and testing are carried out on the impact of pollution to the groundwater system. Remediation work would be implemented based on design developed using the assessment. Upon completion, continuous monitoring work and relevant information system would be carried out and managed for reference respectively.

GARIS would provide critical environmental assessment and mitigation process to help protect groundwater resource from contamination.
