OUR ONLINE PROGRAM IN ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING IS DRIVEN BY THE SAME GOAL, PROVIDING THE ADVANCED EDUCATION YOU NEED TO HELP TECHNOLOGICAL VENTURES

DISCOVER NEW HORIZONS.

Through dedicated research, faculty leadership, and a committed

community of students, the Department of Electrical and

Computer Engineering (ECE) makes groundbreaking contributions

to technological solutions that address the world’s most pressing

problems. Ranked among the top 50 electrical and computer

engineering departments in the country according to U.S. News &

World Report, the UA’s ECE instructors and students have proven

critical to maintaining Arizona’s status as a national center of the

high-tech industry.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE – BOUNDLESS INNOVATION

The programs offered by the ECE

department are flexible and varied, offering

a comprehensive path to professional

development for engineers in several different

industries. Through longstanding partnerships

with some of the foremost technology

companies in the country, including Raytheon,

Intel, IBM, Qualcomm, Motorola, Microsoft,

Honeywell, Texas Instruments, GM, Agilent,

NASA, Boeing, and Pixar, graduates have gone

on to pursue advanced positions in companies

that pursue constant innovation and shape the

future of the world.

As technology evolves at an astounding pace,

skilled engineers that can find innovative

solutions to emerging problems – both in

developing new ideas and improving old ones –

will find themselves consistently in demand

in the global marketplace. The online Master

of Science (M.S.) in Electrical and Computer

Engineering is designed with the input of

industry leaders and led by expert faculty to

help you gain this critical skill set and lead the

way to a promising future.

The program is a perfect fit for working engineers

looking to enter a more design-oriented role,

playing a central part in the creation and

planning phase of new technologies. Through

the flexible, customizable curriculum, you’ll have

the opportunity to focus your coursework on

the areas of engineering that interest you most,

from communications and signal processing to

advanced computer systems and networks. You

can choose to specialize in one of the following

areas, completing a focused academic plan that

suits your goals:

• High-performance Computing

• Digital Signal Processing,

Communications, and Control

• Computer Networks

• Software Engineering and

Artificial Intelligence

• Detection and Estimation

• Holography and Diffractive Optics

• Simulation Modeling and

CURRICULUM

ADMISSIONS

The University of Arizona’s dedication towards the constant pursuit of innovation is evident in each one of our online degree programs. Each course is provided in a convenient, 100% online format, with some offering live lectures recorded in the classroom and uploaded to the digital learning platform within the day. This connects you directly to the modern, leading curriculum that defines our on-cam-pus experience.

With the convenience of online learning, you can pursue the program on your own schedule while continuing to work full-time.

Customized Curriculum to Suit Your Goals

The curriculum allows for a high degree of

flexibility, giving you the opportunity to build

a course of study that suits your academic and

professional goals. Every course reflects UA’s

high standards of academic rigor, preparing

you to design and implement electrical and

computer engineering systems that meet

specifications and demonstrate mastery of the

ECE coursework.

Before the end of the first semester, you’ll

be asked to submit a Draft Plan of Study

detailing your intended coursework. This plan

must comprise 30 units of required graduate

coursework (500- or 600-level) and fulfill the

following requirements:

• A maximum of 9 units of non UA ECE

coursework. All non UA ECE coursework

must be pre-approved by the Graduate

Studies Committee prior to registration.

• All requirements for the master’s degree

must be completed within 6 years to ensure

currency of knowledge. Time-to-degree

begins with the earliest course listed on the

Plan of Study, including credits transferred

from other institutions. Work more than 6

years old is not accepted toward degree

requirements.

Additionally, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

must be maintained on all coursework taken.

Example Courses: • ECE 501B Advanced Linear Systems Theory

• ECE 503 Probability and Random Processes

for Engineering Applications

• ECE 505 Model-Integrated Computing

• ECE 506 Reconfigurable Computing

• ECE 509 Cyber Security - Concept, Theory,

Practice

• ECE 527 Holography and Diffractive Optics

• ECE 529 Digital Signal Processing

• ECE 530 Optical Communication Systems

• ECE 535A Digital Communications Systems I

• ECE 541A Automatic Control

• ECE 542 Digital Control Systems

• ECE 562 Computer Architecture and Design

• ECE 564 Advanced Topics in Computer Networks

• ECE 566 Knowledge-System Engineering
