Dear Parents

In what could only be described as great

organisation and management, Mrs

Duncan has been able to run the athletics

prior to the rain. Mrs Duncan, who is well

known for being able to create rain in

drought conditions, held a wonderful

carnival yesterday with all children enjoying

the day. The speed displayed during the

finals of the age races was very impressive

and the skill level of the field events was a

sight to see. Outstanding performances

included a photo finish in the Senior Boys

800m race between Kohan Kachel and

Matthew Booker and some family rivalry

between Danielle and Hannah Wright in the

track events.

This week the school has been reviewing

student progress through the first part of the

year and all classes have been conducting

assessment tasks in preparation for the

reporting period towards the end of the

term. School reports will be distributed to

parents on Monday, 24 June.

Our Kindergarten classes were on show to

the Lachlan District L3 coordinator on

Tuesday. The role of the coordinator is to

review and guide the delivery of the L3

program into schools. The progress of the

students and staff in the implementation of

the program were highly praised, with great

results being evident in all Kindergarten

rooms. The school is delighted with the

progress of the students and are positive

that the program has provided a firm

fundamental start to literacy for all students

involved. I would like to recognise the work

being undertaken by Mrs Ryan, Mrs

White, Mrs Bowen, Mrs Eldridge, Mrs

Pulling and Ms Hyde in providing such

quality teaching.

A few weeks ago I announced the

retirement of the Regional Director of

Western Region, Mrs Carole McDiamid.

The NSW Department of Education and

Communities have been undergoing a

structural change and last week Ms Dail

McGilchrist was appointed one of four

Executive Directors and will lead the

Directors, Public Schools NSW with

responsibility for the following principals’

networks: Albury, Bathurst, Cootamundra,

Deniliquin , Far South Coast, Far West,

Griffith, Lachlan, Macquarie, Orange,

Queanbeyan, South Coast, Southern

Tablelands, Wagga Wagga, Western

Plains, Wollongong and Wollongong

North. We wish Ms McGilchrist the very

best in the role and look forward to

working closely with her.

The scheduled movie night for Week 6

has been postponed at the moment. The

school is electing to hold the night later in

the year in order to provide a current

movie that will appeal to a wide

audience.

In Week 8 on Tuesday,18 June the school

will be holding the second Adventure

Day. Fourteen Stage 2/3 children will be

going with Mr Tom and other staff

members to complete challenging

activities including waterfall climbing,

bushwalking and possibly caving. These

days are seen as a highlight to the term

CLOTHING POOL

HOURS: Tuesday afternoon

2.15pm - 3.00pm

In the school auditorium

Lisa Willis, the canteen supervisor is in

charge of the Clothing Pool and if you

can’t make it on Tuesdays you can

contact Lisa at the canteen during

school times (please be aware that

Lisa is busy with orders before school,

recess and lunch times).

CANTEEN

ASSISTANCE

Lisa, the canteen manageress

is looking for volunteers to

assist in running the canteen.

Please consider spending one day a

month volunteering. It is a great way to

keep in touch with your children and their

friends.

The canteen is a great fundraiser for the

school and all profits from this source are

shared evenly between the Infants and

Primary divisions of the school, and are

expended on equipment for pupil and

teacher use.

Although we have a full-time Manageress,

Mrs Lisa Willis, we also require a volunteer

each day to assist with the preparation

and sale of food.

Volunteer assistance is needed from 9:00

a.m. until 2:00 p.m. daily OR perhaps

9.00am until 11.00am to make the lunches.

VOLUNTARY SCHOOL

CONTRIBUTION

Voluntary contributions are set each

year by the P.&C.

This year, these are the same as in the

past, namely $30 per child. Less than

15c a day!

Thank you to parents who have made

this contribution to date.

DONATION OF SPARE

CLOTHING

As the weather is getting colder the

school is running low on spare clothing

for children who have little accidents.

We are in need of good quality

clothing for all sizes.

Girls and boys underwear

Tracksuit pants/trousers

School jumpers

Shirts (boys & girls)/skivvies

Socks
