Michigan Medicine is proud to announce the Second AnnualHealth Equity Leadership Weekend at Michigan MedicineTheme: Gender Equity and Gender Healthcare EquityAugust 7th - 6:30pm - 8:30pmAugust 8th - 8:30am - 4:30pmSponsored by the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) at Michigan Medicine. OHEI aims to promote the development of leadership skills in medical students interested in health equity, diversity and inclusion work. This virtual weekend is led by Marcia A. Perry M.D., Program Director, Health Equity Leadership Weekend, Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine. As members of the ACGME Pursuing Excellence Healthcare Disparities Collaborative, we are leveraging our institutional assets to engage our house officers to develop leadership skills around eliminating health disparities. We are inviting M-4 students in good standing, interested in health equity, diversity and inclusion work to apply to be part of this journey.

Goals and ObjectivesAt the end of this 2-day virtual workshop:◆ Learners will develop leadership skills to become change agents for healthcare

equity and explore ways to positively lead and influence healthcare inequities.◆ Learners will learn to address the social determinants of health (SDoH) in patient

care, healthcare delivery, and explore how cultural humility, as a life-long skill development, leads to the delivery of equitable care.

◆ Learners will analyze and understand the impact of the SDoH and the root causes of the inequity that contributed to the disparate health outcomes for marginalized populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

◆ As part of their leadership journey, learners will be equipped to discuss healthcare disparities affecting underrepresented minority women (breast cancer, cardiovascular health, maternal /fetal health, mental health).

◆ Learners will develop an understanding of the gender pay gap and the gender promotion gap in academic medicine.

◆ Learners will develop an understanding of LGBTQ health.◆ Learners will develop an understanding of reproductive health disparities.
