This is the required text and is the book the reading assignments are referring to. 2) i>clicker, sold at bookstore, we will use these for quizzes and in class questions. Note: THESE ARE REQUIRED! Biochemistry is helpful but not required. The overall goal of this course is to give you an idea of what cells are and what they do. • WewilltrytousecodeABfortheentirequarter!• Iwill ask a fewquestions sometimeduring the lecture about thematerial covered in the

previous lecture topic. Pleasedonot communicatewithothersduring thequiz. Youarewelcometolookatnotestoanswerthese;youwillhave90secondstoanswereachoneusingyour clicker. Thesewill comprise 20%of your grade, thus obtaining and registering yourclickerisveryimportant.

• Note,theseareworth50pointstotal.Therewillbemorethan50questions.Theextrasarethereforthosewhomustmissafew(sick,snow,etc.).Thus,therearenomakeups.

• Iwillalsoaskquestionsthatarenotgradedusingtheclickers.ThiswillserveasamethodtodeterminehowwellIamgettingthematerialacrosstotheclass.

• Pleasenote:Youareresponsibleformakingsurethebatteryisgoodinyourclicker,makingsureyouknowhowtousethem(instructionsareprintedonthem)andknowhowtochangetootherfrequenciesifaskedto.MakesurethatD2Lhasyourcorrectemailaddressaswell.

• Makeup exams are only given under extreme circumstances, e.g birth/death in family orillnessthatrequiresmedicalattention(notefrommedicalprofessionalrequired).

• Theinstructorwilldeterminetheformatanddateofthemakeupexamination.• Cheatingonanyexaminationorquizwillresultinazero.

Gradesforthisclasswillbebasedonyourperformanceon3exams,groupworkinrecitationanddailyquizzes.Therewillbe2hourlyexamsandafinalexam.Eachexamisworth50points,recitationisworth50pointsandthequizzeswillbeworthatotalof50points.Yourfinalgradewillbebasedonthetotalnumberofpointsearnedforthequarter:
