Curtin College is located on the main campus of Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. Since its inception in 2000, the College has established itself as the major alternate pathway for students wishing to pursue Bachelor degrees at Curtin, with its graduates consistently producing highly successful results. Over 6,000 students have successfully progressed from Curtin College into the 2nd year of Curtin University Bachelor degrees.

TRimESTERSYSTEmAnDFlExiblESTuDYoPTionSFormanyprogramsatCurtinCollege,theacademicyearisdividedinto13-weektrimesters.TrimesteronerunsfromFebruaryuntilJune,trimestertwofromJulyuntilSeptember,andtrimesterthreefromoctoberuntilJanuary.Theflexibilityofthistrimestersystemallowsstudentstofast-trackcertainprogramsovertwotrimesters,helpingthemtomorequicklyreachtheirdesireddegreeatCurtin.StudentswhopreferamoregradualtransitionintoCurtincantakeadvantageofthreetrimesters,thuscompletingtheircoursein12months.CurtinCollegealsooffersaTertiaryAccessProgram,whichisavailableinFebruary,Julyandoctoberformanycourses.

SomeDiplomasatCurtinCollege,suchasEngineeringandhealthSciences,followCurtinuniversity’sacademiccalendar.SemesteronerunsfrommarchtoJuneandsemestertwofromtheendofJulytonovember.Pleaserefertothecoursetableonpages6-7fortheintakesavailableforyourchoiceofprogramatCurtinCollege.

TEAChingATCuRTinCollEgElecturegroupsatCurtinCollegeaverageinsizebetween30and50students.lecturesarecomplementedbysmallergrouptutorials,orworkshops,wherelecturersareabletogettoknowthepersonalstudyneedsofeachstudent.StudentsattheCollegewillnormallyhavemorecontacthourswithteachingstaffthaninequivalentundergraduateclasses.ThesmallteachinggroupsapplyspecificallytoCertificateivTertiaryPreparationProgramandTertiaryAccessProgramunitsforallcourses,andtoDiplomaunitsofCommerce,builtEnvironment,Arts&CreativeindustriesandinformationTechnology.TheDiplomaofEngineeringispartlytaughtinCollegeclasses,withsomeworkshopsbeingsharedwithCurtinuniversityfirst-yearstudents.

FREESuPPoRTAnumberofsupportprogramsareofferedfreeofchargetostudentstoassistintheacademicdevelopmentrequiredtosucceedatuniversity.Atnoextracost,studentscanaccesssupportclassestoenhancetheirperformanceattheCollegeandbetterpreparethemforfuturestudy.Coursesinmathematicsareavailable,alongwithavarietyofprogramsaimedatassistingstudentswiththeirEnglishlanguageandstudyskills.inadditiontoavarietyofEnglishlanguagesupportprograms,thereisalsoindividualsupportavailablewhererequiredandacomprehensiveAcademicmasterSeries,aimedatprovidingstudentswitharangeofprogramstoenhancetheirstudyskillsandstudyexperienceatCurtinCollegeandCurtinuniversity.

CurtinCollegestudentscanalsoarrangeindividualhelpwiththepreparationandpresentationofassignments,aswellasreferencing,languageskillsandgeneralstudyskills.Priorityisgiventostudentswhohaveattendedothersupportprograms.

CREDiTTRAnSFERAnDRECogniTionoF PRioRlEARningCreditTransferandRecognitionofPriorlearning(RPl)enablestudentstocompletespecifiedprogramsofstudyinashortertimethannormal.RPlisusuallybasedonsuccessfulcompletionofequivalentmodulesorunitsofstudyatanotherinstitution.Applicationsforcreditsshouldincludeunitoutlines(syllabus)andcertifiedcopiesofanyacademictranscripts.CurtinCollegealsorecognisestheskillsandknowledgestudentsmayhavegainedfromlifeexperiences,workexperienceandanytrainingprovidedthroughpreviousemployment.RequestsforRPlshouldbemadeatthetimeofapplication.ThegrantingofaCurtinCollegeDiplomaiscontingentonstudentsstudyingaminimumof50%ofthecourseattheCollege.
