Sexual HarassmentSexual harassment in class has been defined as unwelcome

activity of a sexual nature when one or more of the following applies:

Acceptance or rejection of the conduct is used to make 1. employment decisions: hiring, work assignments, and project grades. The conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably 2. interfering with candidate performance. The conduct creates an intimidating, hostile or 3. offensive environment.

We are governed by State and National employment and business conduct standards. SetFocus is committed to providing an environment that is free from intimidation and harassment of any nature. We cannot permit Web content on personal computers that may be seen as offensive. It is imperative that candidates refrain from visiting and downloading from sites that may breach the moral guidelines and contain offensive content.

CheatingThe decision as to whether a candidate has cheated depends

on the intent of an assignment, the ground rules specified by the instructor and the behavior of the candidate. Two guidelines help an instructor decide if cheating has occurred:

Program plagiarism will be suspected if an assignment that 1. calls for independent development and implementation of a program results in two or more solutions so similar that one can be converted to another by a mechanical transformation. Cheating will be suspected if a candidate who was to 2. complete an assignment independently cannot explain both the intricacies of his or her solution and the techniques used to generate that solution.

PenaltiesThe penalty for a first offense of cheating or plagiarism is a grade

of “0” on the project or test in which the offense occurred, and will result in a comment being placed in the Candidate’s Record. The penalty for the second offense of cheating or plagiarism is the candidate will be placed on Probation and lose any Career Development Services provided by SetFocus. If a further violation of the policy occurs, the candidate will be withdrawn immediately from SetFocus and will not be eligible for reinstatement.

Grading and Academic Progress Standards

Progress and performance will be monitored regularly through a series of online tests and development projects. Faculty will review resulting scores.

All candidates are encouraged to maintain a “B” or 3.0 averages throughout their training period. Failure to do so could jeopardize a candidate’s position in the Program.

GPA will be calculated the following guidelines have been developed:

All tests, projects, and professional reviews are based on the 1. 100 point grading system with the following delineation: A 90 – 100 points

B 80 – 89 points C 70 – 79 points D 60 – 69 points F 59 points and below

Any test in which the high score in the class is below 90 points 2. will have the grading scale curved. The standard curve in such situations will be to adjust the high score to meet the 90-point minimum. The number of points added to the high score to achieve this will then be added to each remaining test result.Exams may not always be announced. It is the candidate’s 3. responsibility to review the course offerings on a daily basis and to be prepared to demonstrate your command of the material.Exam materials and software are the sole proprietary property 4. of SetFocus and are not to be removed from the premises or copied in any way.Projects submitted on time can earn a maximum grade of 100 5. points. Projects submitted after the deadline will likely carry significant penalties. All requests for an extension on any project due date must be sent to the Dean of Students for approval prior to the original due date. Each candidate will have online access to his or her current 6. grades. The performance average used to determine contract compliance will be the curved test scores averaged with any projects completed according to the following schedule: Component Weight

Class Exams 50% Class Projects 50%

Candidates who fall below 80% in their average may be given a 7. warning and put on probation. Once a warning has been given and the candidate put on probation, the procedures set out under the probation section of this document will then apply.

Any grievances concerning candidate results in grading and academic performance should follow the SetFocus Grievance Policy.

Makeup WorkUnless an absence is valid and excused, there will be no makeup

of exams or projects. Missed exams or projects will result in a score of zero.
