The State Oil and Gas Board met in the Governor's Reception Room at 10:45 o'clock A.M., April 23, 1957,

PRESENT: Bob Lee, EXecutive Secretary to Governor Foss; Ed, T. Elkins, State Treasurer; Phil Saunders, Attorney General; E. D. Barron, Assistant Attorney General; Buford Gray, Deputy State Auditor; Bernard Linn, Commissioner School and Public Lands; Clara Halls, Secretary of State.

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lee,

Mrs. Halls presented to the Board Notice of Intention to Drill for Oil and Gas, dated April 15, 1957, filed by Raymond 011 Company of Denver, Colorado, covering the Goodnick No, 1, located on Section 23, Township 11S, Range 9E, Fall River County, South Dakota. The well is located 2052' North and 721' East from the SW Corner of Section 23, Township 11S, Range 9E, BHM, Fall River County, South Dakota. Said well is covered by bond in the amount of $3,000,00 executed by the Aetna Casualty & Surety Company as Surety. It was moved by Mr. Elkins and seconded by Mr. Lee that the application be approved and permit granted, which permit shall require Raymond Oil Company of Denver, Colorado, to furnish to Dr. E. P. Rothrock, State Geologist, a complete set of cuttings and if available two sets of Geophysical Logs be furnished to the Secretary of the Oil and Gas Board, Pierre, South Dakota,

Spudded in late April 25, 1957 Ran 120 feet of 7 inch surface pipe, cemented. Drilled 6i inch hole to 1700 feet.

Remarks and Recommendations: Sands from 1465 to 1700, they thought was Newcastle probably includes top of Dakota.

I could not witnem plugging and all my deputies were • in the field. The Board therefore, will have to rely

on the Company's affidavit. The drilling Superintendent has been on a couple plugging jobs that I witnessed and I believe can be relied on.

A meeting of the State Oil and Gas Board was held in the Office of the Secretary of State at 10:30 A. M., on November 20, 1957.

PRESENT: Bob Lee, Executive Secretary to Governor Foss; Ed T. Elkins, State Treasurer; E. D. Barron, Assistant Attorney General; F. A. Allbee, State Auditor; Bernard Linn, Commissioner of School and Public Lands; Clara Halls, Secretary of State.

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lee, Executive Secretary.

Mrs. Halls, Secretary of the Board, presented to the Board Notice of Intention to Abandon the Goodnick Well No. 1, located on Section 23, Township 11 South, Range 9 East, Fall River County, South Dakota, to-gether with Well Plugging Affidavit of said well. After a short discussion it was moved by Mr. Allbee and seconded by Mr. Lee that the Well Plugging Affidavit and Notice of Intention to Abandon the Goodnick Well, located 2052 feet North and 721 feet East Brom the SW Corner of Section 23, Township 11S, Range 9E, Fall River County, South Dakota, be approved and the liability under bond executed by Aetna Casualty & Surety Company as Surety and Raymond Oil Company as Principal, in the amount of $3,000.00 conditioned upon compliance with the law and rules and regulations of the Oil and Gas Board concerning wells to be drilled in Fall River County, South Dakota, be, and the same is hereby terminated and at an end from and after this date, and the bond of $3,000.00, given in connection with the drilling of said well, be released,

letter concerns a release of bond for two the data: Raymond #1 Mitchell, sec. 28, T. 1 E., Fall River County; and the Raymond #1 sec. 23, T. 11 S., R. 9 E., Fall River County.

We have received the samples for these wells, and as the requirements of the State have been met, the bond may now be released.

Dear Mrs. Halls:

Reference is made to your letters of August 28, 1957, with regard to the Raymond-Goodnick Well No, 1 and the Raymond-Mitchell Well No, 1, Fall River County, South Dakota.

The bond for neither of these wells should be released because we still do not have the samples or the two copies of the electric logs for either of these holes.

If you wish, I can write to them and let them know what is lacking before their bond can be released.
