South Etobicoke Storm Water Management Plan

The City of Toronto has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to advance the recommendations of the City’s Wet Weather Flow Master Plan (approved by City Council in 2003) to capture and treat polluted stormwater that is discharged directly to the Etobicoke Waterfront from 30 storm sewer outfalls, in an effort to help improve water quality along Etobicoke waterfront. The study has defined the problems/opportunities, identified and evaluated alternatives, and determined a preferred solution in consultation with the City of Toronto Divisions, regulatory agencies, and the public. The City has accepted the consultant’s recommendations regarding the preferred solution and conceptual design, including various project components. The Study Report will be posted onto this webpage starting this weekend:

Toronto Casino Consultation

Public input invited in Toronto casino consultation The City of Toronto's casino consultation is now open for public input. From January 3 to January 25, members of the public can get information, download materials and provide their input at http://www.toronto.ca/casinoconsultation. The City has also scheduled five sessions to provide opportunities for people to learn more about the consultation process, join discussions on key topics, speak with staff and provide input. Members of the public are invited to drop in any time during the following open houses: • Saturday, January 12: North York Memorial Hall, 5110 Yonge St., 1 to 4 p.m. • Monday, January 14: Etobicoke Olympium Gymnasium, 590 Rathburn Rd., 6 to 9 p.m. • Thursday, January 17: Scarborough Civic Centre Rotunda, 150 Borough Dr., 6 to 9 p.m. • Saturday, January 19: Bluma Appel Salon Reference Library, 789 Yonge St., 1 to 4 p.m. All Torontonians - whether they attend a community discussion or not - are encouraged to fill out the online feedback form at https://surveys.dpra.com/casino/CasinoSurvey.aspx. The public consultation closes on January 25, the last date that input will be accepted. The findings of the consultation will be provided to City Manager Joe Pennachetti to assist in the preparation of his report to Toronto's Executive

Committee, which will consider the possible establishment of a casino in Toronto at its meeting on March 20. A report on the public's comments will also be made available on the City's website at that time. The plan for consultation results from an Executive Committee request to the City Manager for public input on the possible establishment of a casino in Toronto.

Volunteers Needed – TIFF Next Wave Film Festival

The TIFF Next Wave Film Festival is an annual festival exclusively for youth aged 14 to 18. This exciting event includes films made for youth — and in some cases by youth — along with an array of activities in which students are exposed to the world of cinema and to life behind the lens. From February 15 - 17, 2013 TIFF Bell Lightbox will be turned over to the next generation of movie lovers! With films from across the globe and spanning all genres, TIFF Next Wave Film Festival brings the world of cinema to Toronto's youth audiences. The festival also includes an exciting slate of special guests, seminars and showcases for young filmmakers. Select screenings are accompanied by Q&A sessions with directors and special guests.

If you have any youth family members, or know of any teens between the ages of 15 - 18, interested in volunteering for TIFF Next Wave Film Festival they can fill out our online application form here! Once their application has been

reviewed and processed they will be invited to attend an in-person orientation session (taking place on several dates throughout January) where they will learn more about the festival and the volunteer opportunities that are available.

Please note the deadline to apply is Friday, January 18th.
