    Bo+er res%onded that the cost +o'ld ,e less than the original$:& %ro%osal that incl'ded installing a second interchange on thenterstate. e said the cost +o'ld ,e less for ,oth the City and(tate3s share.

    Bern asked if Jackson Co'nty +o'ld %artici%ate in the cost.

    Bo+er e8%lained as %art of the trac st'dy that looked atalternati!es/ a ro'nda,o't and trac signal +ere ro'ghly the

    same in cost. e said e8%lained the %a!ement at the intersectionof igh+ay -1 and nd'strial oad is +orn o't. Bo+er said if ne+t'rn lanes +ant to ,e installed to facilitate additionalde!elo%ment in that area/ the road+ay has to ,e reconstr'cted.e said once yo' ,egin reconstr'cting a road+ay/ the costdi7erence ,et+een a trac signal and a ro'nda,o't is not thatm'ch di7erent ,eca'se it3s all ne+ %a!ement +hether in a circleor straight lines.     Bo+er +ent on to say ro'nda,o'ts/ on a!erage/ ha!e a red'ctionof serio's in'ries crashes of a,o't =5> +hen com%ared to a fo'rleg traditional intersection. e reiterated that a ro'nda,o't +illcost ro'ghly the same as a trac signal/ it3s going to ,e safer and

    ha!e fe+er delays. As far as Mn&O$ is concerned/ Bo+er said aro'nda,o't is really the only good sol'tion for that intersection.e said it3s the +ay to mo!e for+ard if im%ro!ements are going to,e made to the intersection.

    $em%le noted one of his concerns +as large !ehicles ,einga,le to 'se the ro'nda,o't/ ,'t said Bo+er demonstrated that alarge !ehicle can negotiate thro'gh a ro'nda,o't.

    Bo+er noted Mn&O$ has a lot of e8%erience accommodatinglarge !ehicles thro'gh ro'nda,o'ts. e said igh+ay -1 isact'ally a (tate o!ersi?e/ o!er+eight ro'te so this is one of the

    ro'tes in Minnesota +here Mn&O$ +ants o!ersi?e !ehicles totra!el.
