Courts Berhad (Courts ) is a strong believer in 'giving back to society'. Since the company's
inception in 1987, Courts has initiated a host of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes
aimed at assisting the less fortunate.
About Hope for Our Children Campaign
The Hope for Our Children Campaign is a collaboration between the National Cancer
Society of Malaysia (NCSM) and Courts Malaysia (Courts). The campaign aims to engender
understanding that cancer can be prevented by making conscious decisions about the life
that we lead.
12
The campaign tagline, “Cancer Prevention Begins with a Healthy Lifestyle” also aims to enlist
the support of children by empowering them with the knowledge that healthy lifestyle habits
adopted early in life can make a positive difference in reducing the risk of cancer later in life.
Simple steps like applying sunblock, avoiding smoking and second-hand smoke, eating more
fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoiding processed food help to prevent cancer and other
chronic diseases as well.
In support of the campaign, images captured by premier photographer Kid Chan, show the
moments shared between cancer survivors and their family members and sending the
message that cancer does not signify the end of life’s journey. There is a high rate of survival
for cancer patients especially when detected early.
These images will be displayed on donation boxes, postcards, posters and buntings
distributed at all Courts 50 stores nationwide, and “Walk for Hope” Walkathons will also be
13
organized at selected Courts retail outlets for fund-raising and as a way to engage members
of the public. The campaign will culminate in a charity dinner event to raise more funds for the
cause – the donations will help to fund more NCSM activities including the second stage of
the campaign which includes a school outreach programme.
The school outreach programme, which will kick off in 2011, hopes to increase awareness
among students that healthy lifestyle habits can help prevent cancer while providing
recognition for active student clubs.

Courts brings cheers to KLGH
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program, Courts Bhd recently organized a
refurbishment project for Kuala Lumpur General Hospital's paediatrics ward. The project
involved a new paint job for the playroom's internal and external walls and then, jazzing up the
place with stickers of cheerful and fun characters to create a mural. Little touches such as
15
smaller-sized stickers mounted on cabinets also further brightened up the place, which Courts
then furnished with shelves, a storage cabinet and 10 sets of children's desk and chairs and a
variety of toys.
Visit to The Pediatric Ward of Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
During the festive season in December 2005, Courts organized a
visit to the paediatrics ward at the Kuala Lumpur General
Hospital to distribute goody bags to the children who were also
entertained by a magical clown and enjoyed a hand and face
painting as well as story-telling session
Rumah Ceriaku- Shopping day at Bata
Courts recently brought some 'back-to-school' joy to the children
under the umbrella of Courts Rumah Ceriaku campaign. The
children were hosted to a shopping trip to the Bata Clearance
Centre in Klang to select school shoes for the new school term. A
total of 270 children from seven adopted homes joined the Bata
'sojourn', which was organized by Courts' seven Klang Valley

Make a date -to- donate
With the school holidays and the festive season being the most
challenging periods to stock up on blood, the National Blood
Bank was delighted when more than 40 Courts Berhad (Courts )
associates answered the call to donate blood on December 6th
16
2005.
Courts is one of the NBB's staunchest supporters. To date, we
have jointly organized five blood drives, all of which have been
successful as the Company always makes it easy and convenient
for our staff from the Klang Valley stores and warehouses to
participate.
Blind leading the blind
Another CSR project that saw Courts' involvement is the Lions
Club Sight First Project helmed by the Petaling Jaya Lions Club.
Besides financial assistance, Courts rallied a team to participate
in the 'Blind leading the blind' charity walk held in early March
2005. The Lions Club Sight First Project provides financial
assistance to defray the surgery costs for needy patients who
require urgent cataract and other sight impairment surgery.
In recognition of Courts' contributions, the Company was
presented the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award; the highest form
of recognition conferred by the foundation, which honours Melvin
Jones, the founder of Lions Club International. The fellowship
represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity,
17
compassion and concern for the less fortunate.
