CORSO

Utilizing a range of materials and exquisite craftsmanship, Century defines Modern with stunning confidence.

High Point Furniture Market (October 2016)—Drawing inspiration from Italian and Scandina-vian references, Century Furniture launches Corso, a decidedly modern collection with stunning wood work and hardware details. Named for the main street in the historical centre of Rome,

the Via del Corso, this collection has a connection to the past and yet it is forward looking. Rendered in oak solids and oak veneers and featuring a narrow heart oak book matched veneer pattern on key pieces, Corso is graphic and bold. Selected for it’s third dimension, texture, oak offers extreme versatility, allowing consumers to paint, ceruse, or use a higher sheen wood stain to achieve a variety of looks. “Our muse for Corso was a young woman, who we envisioned sitting at a café along the Via del Corso having an espresso. With her in mind, the pieces of Corso took shape and we creat-ed a strong, curated collection that can be formal or casual, and works back to our other modern collections,” says Chad Philips, Director of Century’s Case goods. “The result are pieces that can move from formal to casual, feminine to more masculine depending on how the customer orders them.” Two new finishes are featured throughout the collection, Blonde cerused and Black cerused. Blonde cerused is a lighter honey toned finish, which gives the pieces a casual feeling. Black ce-rused is a deep ebony color that really allows the wax hang up to highlight the grains of the narrow heart oak veneers making them focal points in the room. Throughout the display finishes are mixed liberally showcasing the versatility of Corso. Railroad Silver hardware and ferrules are used throughout the collection, along with oil rubbed bronze and brass metal ac-cents Railroad silver was selected for it’s ability to work well with both brass and silver metals, again emphasizing the ease of mixing these pieces with other furniture. Corso features over ten different styles of hardware, accentuating the curated feel of the collection.

“Corso brings together the best of what Century offers,” says Comer Wear, VP of Mar-keting for Century Furniture. “From the designs and craftsmanship to the range of fin-ishes and materials, there are so many ways one could use these pieces. In our own display we showcase how it can create a modern cabin feeling as well as a more urban modern look.” Aspen or Manhattan, Chicago or Scottsdale, Corso is a striking collection for today’s living spaces around the globe. After all, modern is not where you are or the type of home you have, it is decidedly a state of mind.
